Anyone get one this year? Our work place is sort of dodgy and raises your 'entire renumeration package' which includes super so you don't actually get that much money in your hand (minus tax of course).

I am just chipper with the amount though

yes, yes i did. It wasn't much but it's better than nothing, it basically comes with the responsibility of looking after a Cisco 7609, several 7200's, 3600's and a tonne of different connections.

I started in February, got a raise ($5k) last month, an expecting another two this year of the same amount in September and December. Not bad for an IBL student

I don't think my job position will get a raise considering there are people who would do it for free:(

My workplace just moved the the re-evaluation time back 6 months, and I have already been here for longer than a year. So yeah, I'm looking for work if anyone wants a delphi/C# developer.

I started my job fresh out of Uni a bit more than 18 months ago and have had 9k of raises.

Admittedly I was on the lowish end of what a grad could get but I live in the sticks and as it ended up didn't graduate :p My latest one was semi-conditional on me finishing up my last 3 cp up here in Cairns which is what I wanted to do anyway, and they give me paid time to study for it!

Kat, that "complete" pay rise stuff including super is BS. I don't even know if that s*** is legal, compulsory super is posed to be in addition to your regular salary, but I'm seeing more and more jobs advertising a complete package inc super which s***s me.

I got a 5% raise about a month ago. 5% to my income + super obviously going up as well.

Thats my "interim" raise, I get my main raise in September after our major reviews.

is there a point at which you just don't get a raise anymore? I don't bother keeping track of how much I get paid anyway couldn't give a toss as long as I have enough to live on.

The minimum wage always increases each year to keep pace with inflation. Though its always a pathetic increase. If an extra couple hundred of bucks a week forces a business to the wall, then perhaps they should reevaluate their business acumen because obviously they suck major flaming bags to be running that slim.

No raise for me, which is mega-f***ing-gay.

Whoop depends but yeah there can be.
The system I am under is similar to government systems.
And at a 6.5 I am stuck, there is no 6.6, there is a 7.1 but that means my job has to be reclassified.

I'm sure if you owned the company you'd rather see that couple of hundred bucks in your pocket, not spend it on your workers' wages.

No, because unlike most business owners I see the value in retaining staff and keeping them happy. Low morale = less productive workers and higher turnover rate. Finding, hiring and training a new employee costs far more than providing them with an equitable wage for those already with the business. In the end, that little extra money you pay your workers in the short term curries favour. And when the employee finally decides its time to move on, attracting quality staff will not be difficult. If you were considered to be a gun at your given profession, would you settle for SFA pay? Hell no.

Indeed. The old saying goes "You pay peanuts you get monkeys". You get paid just enough to do what's required and little else. You only reap what you sow.

I'm getting some extra hours in the upcoming couple of months tacked on to the end of my regular 4 hour days. I'm happy enough with that. I very much doubt I'll be getting a raise any time soon.

No payrise this year, or last year :/ I wasn't even aware such things were common place. I thought a raise was pretty much like getting a PHD where you have to accomplish something special.

When I negotiated my "Enterprise Agreement" it included yearly cost of living indexed to the yearly inflation rate, this is added to the base and super on top. Added to that is a 6 monthly review with an additional 5% (2 x 2.5%) if productivity is meet. Then on top of that I have negotiated a further 15% this financial year additional management responsibilities.

Yes, you do reach a point where money may not be the end motivation, however if you don't continue to increase your earns by CPI every year then your money is worth less and less with each year that goes by.

More like "I don't own a business, so I can claim I'd be better and never have to prove it".

I've had 2 pay rises this year

I get paid 'ok' considering the hours I put, could be better, could be worse I guess...

I get one in two days and another in November. Not bad for someone who just started a couple of months ago.
