So I've just opened up my mail to find a letter from ANZ with the heading "Account data security breach in the United States", informing me that there was a breach at a US-based bank's transaction processing centre that may have affected me if I'd used my credit card in the US or shopped at US-based merchants.
I can't remember buying anything from the US recently so I don't think I'm at risk, but pretty scary stuff. The letter goes on to say that there is a 'dedicated team' monitoring my account and that they'll contact me if anything weird shows up. Apparently this affects both Visa and MasterCard. stagrrr reckons this is old news, but its the first I've heard of it; anyone else gotten anything about it? |

That is exactly right Hermi. It is unbelievable how many people don't understand repudiation on credit card transactions and blabber on about the evil of the net in regards to credit card purchases not even knowing that repudiation exists!!

Dysard lives!
On topic, yeah - people who are so afraid of using their credit cards obviously missed the reports from Visa and Mastercard that credit card fraud online is about the same as offline - so when you hand that waiter your card, watch him like a hawk. |
