Topic: Four Swords - which?

Okay, another gaming choice to make.

I'm trying to now decide if I should go and buy Zelda: Four Swords for Gamecube, or whether I should go buy a GBASP(ZLE)+Zelda: LttP-4s.
They're almost the same game, though I haven't seen enough of Four Swords for cube to know what the difference is between the original SNES LttP is.

I'm hoping maybe someone here will have played either or both and be able to help me make a decision.

Basically, I just want to play oldskool Zelda LttP again :D

I realise the cost is $80 vs $180, but they're slightly different games and the latter option is portable. So, anyone know if GCN 4s is any good?

TIA.

Oh, I thought you were choosing a real sword to buy. In which case I'd recommend Del Tin swords. Best in the world if you're after the real McCoy.

As you're not, my post is worthless regarding those games as I've never heard of them. :)

but really... what's the point of a real sword if i can't go about maruading around the countryside and beheading peasants while i'm at it?

The gamecube four-swords is a game of its own, and I hear it's fantastic to play with 3-4 friends. AFAIK, the GBA LttP 4S is just a small little feature tacked on for the sake of multiplayer functionality.

Of course, if you haven't played LttP itself then the choice becomes much easier :)

Be nice if they had multiple points of view, and partial construction pictures instead of just finished side on photos. Not only can't get a good look for authentication but you can't tell on the actual quality of construction.

Nothing wrong with a bit of murder, rape and pillage with a trusty sword in-hand. It's a great way to spend a slow Saturday afternoon. :)

I own two of them. (The 2121 and the 5143). The quality is really good. I did western martial arts for a while a few years back (swordsmanship) and learnt a great deal about what makes a sword good. Not that I used my steel swords for combat - serious injury would occur way to quick to have anyone last the first lesson.

Friends? Huh? I'm sorry I don't know what you're talking about.

I'd most certainly be looking at it for single player.

I've also played LttP many times over, but certainly am not sick of it (hence why I'm asking :)

I'm a tad worried this week could become a spending spree... $150 in books yesterday, $100 in DVDs+CDs today... $180 in Gameboy tomorrow? hm.

As for the sword - my girlfriend works for a toy/collectables distributor. I've already asked her to get me a price on the Sword of the Daywalker replica (I never got around to importing one :)

Well that's nice but which one should it be!? :(

Anyway, it's not so much Four Swords that I'm interested in the both for, it's LttP that I'm interested in. But both versions are adaptions of it.

I've always been under the impression that 4 swords on the gamecube is a completely standalone adventure without much of a story, just a bunch of specially-created dungeons. Playing it singleplayer you still control all 4 links and switch between them -- maybe it's just me, but I don't think that sounds that great.

If you want a singleplayer zelda experience, why not the Minish cap? Or if you haven't played Majora's mask/Ocarina of Time my friend picked up a copy of the promotional disc with gamecube ports of them both off eBay a few weeks ago.

Here's and auction, and here's another.

I have OOT and Master Quest on gamecube that came with Wind Waker - I also have that promo disc, but I want something I don't have to necessarily spend hours playing in a single stint (you could do that more with LttP than you can with OOT).
Havent even touched Majoras Mask though cos the TV tuner thing I use (to use the cube through my 172X) doesn't do 60Hz PAL, doh :(

I was looing at Minish Cap when the GPASP ZLE was released, but was told Minish Cap ain't that great, so saved myself the $220 then.

Looking at what's on the Nintendo/4s website the gameplay demo video there they have make it look the same as LttP yeah, but there's four Links following each other around (I had no idea what was going on there as it doesn't explain it in the video/movie).

I agree it sounds like it might be a bit too much effort.

If only that promo disc had had LttP on it. So BS that it doesn't :(
Well, there's always Revolution as well. But I need something to fill my time at the moment.
