Hey all, Not too sure if any of you have experienced this problem when running BF2 ... have installed it and tried to run it but constantly get the error message: "CD/DVD emulation software has been detected. Please disable all CD/DVD emulation software and re-start the game". Now here's the thing ... had daemon tools running on my comp but disabled all devices and drives and still doesn't want to work. Does anyone happen to have any solutions? Wang |

Use Game Jackal .. no DVD required and it builds a BF2 profile succesfully.

BF2 looks for the default daemon tools driver. When you install daemon tools (make sure you have the latest one) it asks you for a name for the driver. Just type in a random name, something different to the default, and BF2 shouldn't be able to detect it then. Unless of course you're running another virtual CD type program that its also looking for. Do you have Alcohol 120% installed? Cos that has its own virtual cd loader as well.
Theres also programs you can get to "stealth" any virtual cd type programs on your PC, but I've never had much luck with them. I tried out one a few nights ago called AntiBlaxx and it was kinda buggy and kept causing weird things to happen on my PC, so I uninstalled it. |

I am pretty sure it checks the registry as well, it would be pretty inefective, if they didnt code in a number of checks, clean your registry as well, most unistallation programs will delete registry keys for you.

The problem is taking the DVD out of the drive all the time and putting it somewhere safe. This computer is used for more than just BF2, so is my DVD drive.

EA:
This error is presented when active CD Emulation software is detected by the copy protection on the game CD. This software must be disabled for the game to launch properly. It is very common for CD/DVD copying software to include such software as a suite of products, so you will need to make sure that if your CD/DVD copying software includes such software that it is disabled as well. Below is a list of software that is known as, or known to include CD Emulation Software that could potentially prevent the game from playing properly: *Clue* Virtual CD is not listed, it is infact not a problem. * Fantom CD Emulator * Alcohol 120% * Nero Image Drive * Phantom CD * Clone CD * Ark Virtual Drive * Veritas DLA *Clue part 2:* Use VCD 7.0. It can copy disk one, and mount BF2 and other CD's with out causing a problem for BF2. If you are unsure about how to turn off emulation settings, consult your emulation program help files. If you have emulation software not listed above that does not provide adequate information about how to turn off emulation to avoid software conflicts, and then remove the software from your machine. Here are a few examples: If Alcohol 120% is on the machine: * Start Alcohol and go to the Emulation Options. * Select Emulation from the options tree. Uncheck the Ignore Media Types box to turn off the media type emulation, exit Alcohol 120% and restart the game application. * Select Extra Emulation from the options tree. Uncheck the BAD Sectors Emulation to turn off this type of emulation, exit Alcohol 120% and restart the game. If CloneCD is on the machine: * Look on your task bar at the bottom right of your screen (next to the clock). Locate the CloneCD tray icon, which can be a picture of two CD-ROMs; or of a sheeps head . Right Click on the icon and make sure Hide CD-R media is un-ticked. Restart the game application. If Daemon Tools is on the machine: * Select the icon at the bottom of the status bar of windows. * Find the Daemon Tools Icon * Right Click on the Daemon Tools icon in the Task Bar. * Select the Emulation tab. * Deselect SafeDisc. NOTE: This info is from the EA site... but trust me the clone CD procedure alone did not work for me. |
