Howdy,
Whats the deal these days? Does the car need to have a safety cert (RWC) before its sold? Can the seller get the car inspected, then the buyer fix the problems with the car and then get a Safety Cert? What forms need to be signed etc? |

rwc is needed before you transfer rego over, you can sell the car without a rwc if the car is unregistered, however, if you want to re-register it, the person at qld transport will need a rwc before he/she can do anything

Just bought a car a few months back
If registered the car needs a saftey certificate, prolly cost around $80 to get done. They can request what ever they want , and you can denie whatever you want :P Usual request would be to get a RACQ inspection, which really, is a waste of time but people do it regardless. RACQ will come to your house, and inspect the car there, so they dont have to take it. Based on that, you both can negotiate the price. Always remember, its your car, if they dont like it or the price, they can go elsewhere :) |

My limited understanding is that you MUST display the RWC beside the 'For Sale' sign in your car, otherwise you can be fined.
I have recently seen several cars with RWC displayed beside their for sale signs. |

If you want to sell your car you need this:
The correct information on the car. Compliance plates. Road worthy certificate. Not overpriced, cars with high k's are often overpriced. Full service history. Still 6 months rego on the car is handy, less than that it lowers the value of the car. If you don't have a full service history it also lowers the value of the car. Make sure you let the buyer know that the car is not under finance, or if it has been that it has been fully repaid / sorted out. |

If you want to sell your car you need this:haha your noobness makes me laugh. Compliance? no you don't need it to sell it. you can get it complainced later on down the track if need be. as mentioned above rwc, also don't need it, but it would help if you're selling it to a newbie, as they'd be thinking whats wrong with this car, why doesn' it have rwc/rego, and then they start asking questions. rego, same deal ^^ just shutup the rest is just zubzub talk. |

yes only if you have the Rwc as part of the advertisement, otherwise no you don't have to.I believe this to be wrong. Either way I'd check yourself because it is a $320 fine. |

fpot i've sold more cars than your mum.
you need a rwc showing only if you say 'rwc' on the little piece of paper on your window etc. |

by selling the car in a registered condition, you are saying that its road worthy hence by selling any car that still has its plates on you will have to get the blue slip

what sort of car are you selling doode? Selling an 87 Astra, you can find it on Ebay if you wanna take a look. RWC sucks ass. Its a good car and wouldn't even know that it needs new shockies. This fella just wants my money. Not keen on spending 350bucs on new shockies. Id rather sell it unregistered. last edited by Excruci@ting at 18:31:39 21/Jun/05 |

If you are after an independant rwc assessment get racq to do it. since they don't have an alterior motive to failing you. Unless they just don't like you. Or otherwise go dodgy. As I understand it the mobile mech suhaib mentioned above does a good job.

If you are buying definately get the car checked out by someone like RACQ.
Its like $120, and if you are spending the big blings its worth it to know. Gives you a bit of bargaining power too. They don't check engines very well, but they'll tell you things you'd never look at (or couldn't) on a normal tyre kicking mission. I got my car inspected and luckily everything was minor. s*** like battery has limited life, hoses needed replacing, wipers needed replacing and barely legal tyres. Pretty much spot on, as i've had to replace all those since i bought it. They'll also be able to tell you if its had a major accident history (in case the seller isn't all that honest). |

And can you back up your claims there gregory.cx
I see no reason to believe that my car says homosexual In fact, unless my car was a pink Barina, i wouldn't say there are too many cars out there that do say homosexual. Frankly you are quite immature. Grow up or get off these forums. Not everything needs a brain explosion comment from you. |
