Whilst I do agree it is bording on porn, I still stick by the notion of don't like it dont watch it! It really is that simple.

The way TV is going these days Mormans (or anyone that sensitive) should pretty much not watch it at all incase they are offended by anything.

Did anyone see BB Uplate at about 2-2.30 last night??

Hotdogs was drunk from being in the rewards room with Dean. Like really drunk. Geneva complained that he hadn't done the washing up, so he staggered out by himself to do it, where he found Vesna and Christie and Rachel doing some sexy dance routine.
The cameras missed it intially, but he called Vesna a whore and tried to drunkenly dirty dance with her. He then totally pissed off the girls who fled into the bedroom.
Hotdogs followed and basically made a complete dick of himself, falling on the floor and doling out more abuse before trying to hug Vesna again. He tried to drag Tim out to help him do the washing up, but no luck.

All in all a really entertaining performance. This is what they'll all be talking about after the next week of BB.
You heard it here first.
Damn I'm tempted to start a new thread with this. If you saw it, you'd know what I mean.
It was unprecedented. I actually thought BB would call him into the diary room cause he was actually grabbing Vesna and being really obnoxious.

Funny stuff.
BB finally delivers

Well at times it looked a bit suss like she was clearly saying "No, go away" and he just kept it up (so to speak).

It was a really vulgar display of drunken horny man.

I thought he might get violent but no luck.

People should be allowed whatever they like, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. You have to allow people freedom to choose, and if you don't like what's being watched then re-eductaion is the answer and instilling better values, not censorship and blame.

The Nazis tried it, the Communists tried it, the Fascists tried it.
Banning things (esp things like BB which is essentially harmless) only makes people more keen to view them. I don't think watching a few people run around in their undies is porn. In fact at times it's an interesting exercise in human nature.

Banning is for Christian fundamentalists and extremists who can't handle other people expressing themselves differently.

Get behind something worthwhile, like pursuing child pornographers.
But as for harmless stuff like BB, I think we all know it ain't intellectual viewing, but sometimes that's ok, as long as that's not all you watch.

No, my point has nothing to do with churches. What's the main demographic of fanatical BB viewers? Young adolescents.

While it's easy to say shows are rated and shown in late time slots, etc., we all know that many parents show apathy as to what their children are exposed to. BB takes a bunch of deadbeats and dropkicks and turns them into "celebrities" who then become "role-models" for their fans.

I for one don't care for the idea of kids growing up thinking that the behaviour in BB is something worth trying to emulate.

And that's why I reckon BB is dumbing down the population.

Which brings us back to free will

Free speech and free will is a great thing. But people seem to have forgotten that children are just that - children. And it's the responsibility of parents and society at large to guide them to becoming decent people who have respect for others by setting good examples and monitoring what (and who) influences them. BB is not a good influence but is mass marketed towards adolescents. I don't like that.

Good call.

Churches aren't exactly known for furthering the scientific and evolutionary progress of the human race. The Christian church is traditionally one of the most conservative, least progressive and even regressive (not to mention repressive) organisations in the world.
Sorry, but the rest of us are evolving.
Please take your 'I'm the boss of you' attitude and leave us to it.

we all know that many parents show apathy as to what their children are exposed to

I think you just pinpointed the problem.

Do some research first before throwing in statements like that. Churches sponsored the majority of all scientific research for centuries.

And if BB is "progress", then I'm happy to be called conservative.

I think you just pinpointed the problem.

Yeah, that's a whole other complaint I have about society today. But I think I've worn out my soapbox for today, so I'll leave it alone. :)

Also, censorship is bs - ratings like MA themselves aren't supposed to prevent kids from watching s*** - they're meant to help parents do their job.

Well, you seem to be a big fan of evolution, maybe it applie to TV as well. If Sienfeld and Becker still worked, they would still be on air.

Contrary to what everyone beleive, TV stations dont just air crap shows and force you to watch them. There is billions and billions of marketing research dollars behind every show you see (especially in primetime), and the only way to get that cash back is to produce a show that will appeal to the greatest number of people who handle the greatest amount of cash.

Reality TV is obviously what the current money spending, TV watching generation wants, no matter the religious or moral consequences.

The last half hour of Friday night up-late showed us why Gretel gave Hotdogs a warning as he went into the house - "BEHAVE YOURSELF!"....

Because Hotdogs is a really dreadful terrible ridiculous arsehole when he gets drunk.

Mike said he will be feeling very sorry in the morning.

Vesna might forgive him, but why would Glenn forgive him for grabbing his dick?

Glenn said to Hotdogs "Don't you ever do that to me again!"

and then he said it to the pissed Hotdogs again "Don't you ever do that to me again!"

He was really upset.

Then Glenn said to Hotdogs "Fukc Off!", and again "FUKC OFF!"

Just before Dean walked into the Bathroom and randomely licked Christie, Geneva, Kate and Greg on the neck and then got a $5000 fine while walking out of the bedroom naked.

Plus Hotdogs was arguing with Vesna and called her a whore she retaliated but don't know what she said. He has since exposed himself to the girls on the dance floor!

god DAMN

yeah, and it was really good when they killed people for doing good and accurate scientific research just because it contradicted the "word of god". and when they discarded and covered up many advances in medecine and hygiene because they were roman and romans were pagans and therefore evil. that was really good of them too.

yeah, and it was really good when they killed people for doing good and accurate scientific research just because it contradicted the "word of god".

Organisations have killed people for doing things that they don't agree with since humans formed them. Governments have killed their own people because they don't agree with their moralities and ideals.

I'd also like to point out that it is very easy to make fun, or ridicule the church for repressing valid scientific work. It is also very easy to forget that at the time they really thought they were doing the right thing, they simply didn't (and often couldn't) know any better.

Also, why does everybody go "OMG religion is f***ed", and then only discuss the Roman Catholics? Not only do they forget that the Roman Catholics supported many of the great inventors of the renaissance, but also there are many other religions and many of those supported innovative thought.

and when they discarded and covered up many advances in medicine and hygiene because they were roman and Romans were pagans and therefore evil. that was really good of them too.

That isn't exactly true; by the end of the Western Roman Empire, many of its people had converted to Christianity (IIRC including the Emperor himself!). I mean why do you think that all of the Empires that arose from the ashes of the Dark Ages, A) surrounded the remains of the Roman Empire, B) were the remains of the Roman Empire or C) Had once upon a time been conquered by the Roman Empire.

Many of the good things that Romans knew were lost (some yet have to be re-discovered), a lot of this was in the plundering of Rome in 467ad (I think), when the last Emperor of Rome was deposed.

However, much of what you say is kind of right. Western 'Civilisation" did reject a lot of medical advances, but not because it was Roman, rather those advances were Muslim. When the Christians went to the First Crusades, the Saracen Empire was still a technological giant. They had real doctors, understood infections, understood hygiene, they also kept a lot of the Greek Philosophical records ... hell they ate with forks :)

Europeans had been told by the church that all Saracens were in fact demons, who were unclean in the eyes of god (naturally) and that killing one would only heighten that Christians place in heaven .

While it might be easy for modern people to scoff and laugh at how silly that sounds, you have to remember that in Europe, the Church was pervasive. The Church, Jesus, God, Satan, sin, good and evil were all real. In fact, more than just 'real' ... they were the only things that really mattered.

If you think of the past like that, how could you expect the kind of hatred that Europeans must have had towards people they thought were the harbingers of the end of Christendom could accept their wacky, strange and different ways?

---

Don’t get me wrong, the Roman Catholic church has done many horrible things. It has hidden technology, it has ex-communicated and killed people who didn’t agree with it. In today’s age, you may be right to say that mainstream religion often seems to be slowing us down, or actively trying to make us go backwards. However, don’t be so quick to assume that they have always been like that.

Also, if for nothing else … isn’t it good having some checks and balances?

Well looking at it that way Im wrong. Certain trates will change distrobution in communities, but it has been minimalised to a very large degree - that was really my only point. Natural selection no longer occurs in humans and that stifles it alot. It would be very cool if in my lifetime they concretely figured out if darwin was correct.

A) Mormons live by a very strict moral code. Ive read somewhere they are forbidden to even drink coffee! So why do they care about some crappy show on TV when their members are discouraged to watch TV? Heck most Mormons prolly dont even own TV's.

B) Ive seen more graphic porn on SBS! So why arent ppl jumping up and down about that?

Conclusion : Just more rumour mongering and media beat up so that we watch more Today Tonite. Which in turn is there to sell advertising for s*** we dont need.
