So here I am, glad I took the day off because I'm still almost totally deaf...

The Screaming Jets opened, sounded great (good mix, not too loud) and were very tight for their whole set. The crowd was pumping and they finished up to big applause and made their way offstage.

Then we waited 25 minutes.

The lights went out and the crowd started going crazy as Duff, Slash, Scott etc walked out on stage. Suddenly there's backstage crew running around on stage with torches, trying to fix something while Duff is standing on some riser waiting to start...for about 2 minutes. It was an obvious f***up (me & my mates couldn't stop laughing).

The sound engineer should have been shot - he had 25 minutes to get it right, but the first 3 or so songs had horrible. The mix was hopeless and the levels simply too high (when something wasn't feeding horribly). Never-the-less the crowd was moshing away like crazy.

They basically played all of their ep + several Stone Temple Pilots and (I think) one old obscure acoustic Gunners song. By this time the mix was better (I could actually hear the vocals now and not just rhythm guitar + drums) apart from the occasional shocking feeding. Three oncores later it was all over and they were throwing their picks/sticks into the crowd.

Moments of the night for me were Slash doing a 5-minute talkbox solo thru his Les Paul and playing a twin-necked Gibson for the song 'You Got No Right'. At least I can say I've seen Slash in the flesh.

$75 (ticket) + $10 (parking) + $45 (tour shirt) + $4.50 (beer) = $134.50

5/10.

Well maybe it was my positioning man because i thought the drums were mic'd terrible, the toms sounded like s***. Also i would like to f***ing stab the lighting crew in the eye, the lighting itself was good but they put f***ing the strobes on for at least 30 seconds of each song, i thought i was going to have a fit.

The band themselves were really good, awesome stage presence, and i mean, its slash people, SLASH.

Also i got the ticket free so i was f***ing cheering.

$0 (ticket) + $0 (parking) + $4 (chips) + $3.20 (lift) = $7.20

Close to your budget buddy ;)
