Can't say it's my taste in dance style, but he definately has skills.

I'm more into the funk styles eg liquid/tutting/popping etc

I wish more people danced like that, better then what you see at most clubs in brisbane - ie retarded family pill dancing, jock dancing or no dancing at all.

retarded family pill dancing
Describe what that is?

Ok. Glowsticks are optional, but they seem to move there hands around to funny positions at a really rapid speed while shuffling there feet a bit.
I dont mean all people at the family, I just labelled it that cause I had no idea how to describe it!

Please explain... liquid/tutting/popping?
Mighty Mouse

liquid's a dance style where you're creating an illusion of flow.

tutting's a dance style where you make use of 90 degree angles and 'boxes' (it can get pretty intricate)

and popping is a style where you use muscle control to make it seem like your muscles are 'popping' to the music :D (the technique is called hitting, the style is called popping)

I've picked up bits and pieces from online sources :P check out mr wiggles' forum and have a chat to people from America (that's where the real dance scene is)

Those example above are only a few styles though :) you'd be suprised at how many there are. Been dancing funk styles since 2002 hehe keeps me healthy.

mighty mouse, what styles do you do? Do you know about the h20 forums? Check it out at http://h20.ath.cx and say hello :) quite a few Aussie dancers there with a variety of funk styles. There's a few of us around Brisbane.. We all went to the Rude Bwoyz anniversary party not long ago and had a bit of a boogie :D

I do a bastardised version of a few styles :P (boogaloo, popping, liquid, gliding, waving and digits)

I did know about that forum but I forgot the address a long time ago hehe.

Do you guys have any regular practice meets?

Oh and Gaz... I'm not talking about THE dance scene (no doubt UK goes off)... but I'm talking about the underground dance scene :)

MM, not having regular prac sessions yet.. Waiting for a guy called Liquid Rush to come back from Thailand later this year then we're gonna start doing some regular prac and maybe expand it a bit. Rush is easily the highest skilled liquider in Aus, he's probably up there with some of the LPC guys (unfortunately he's overseas for a while)

i probably prefer dancing to RnB music a bit better as i like gliding/sliding across the dance floor and doing the usher type moves, similar to what he does in the "yeah" filmclip, but actually yeah is one of my favourite songs to dance and glide too :P i sussed it out a fair bit one night clubbing on the gold coast, but since then haven't really tried it to much.. my legs were absolutely f***ed after 5 hours of it :P

James go to the http://www.reflective.net forums and down the bottom there's a vids link.. Lots of people post their vids there.

Locally, h20.ath.cx although a lot of the vid links there are broken.. Might be able to get something. Other than that, come meet the rest of us Bris liquiders and I can burn up a CD for you :)

Dancing can be satisfying when you're moving smoothly with the music ;)

Although admitedly, a girl is moreso :P

That is the only thing I miss about my youth. Going out clubbing and dancing. I could go for hours and it was none of this hands holding the sky up dancing either.

Maybe one day I can do it again

No don't work weekends but they are usually filled with domestic duties and family functions. As for getting hubby to look afterchild and going out, it kinda isn't about me and what I want anymore.

If I have a night out with the girls...ever again, then I will but I am not about to go into the lions den alone

All I can say is, if you think you can glide...
Unless you can glide like this... you can't "glide" for s*** =)

^^ That was run DMC's "It's like that" video clip... I been trying to learn that for awhile, I know how it's done, I know how the weight transfers go I just don't have the practice and shifting my weight around quickly enough to do it.... yet, gimmie a few months =)

Oh yeah. The 2-step is mad handy (...when you're a drunken mofo LOL)
Sif 2-step... six-step is where it's at - the lower down you are, the funkier you are ;)

Loki I have some clips of some WAY better gliders than that :P some of the guys from LPC are smoother gliders, and some of the clips from reflective are great too.. The best I've seen is on a vid called King of the Mountain.. One of the guys wearing a blue shirt in that is the best glider I've ever seen!

Oh my god... I agree that the guy must be gay or slightly inclined the other way... no heterosexual man would ever dance to THAT song.

I've been banned from dancing by my friends because apparently it bears close resemblance to somebody being hit by a tazer...

Morax > Sorry for not getting back to you earlier buddy. Been down the coast all weekend. The guy you mention in 'king of the mountain', his name is Joe and those glides he pulls off are pretty slick :)

If you talk to Rush often... ask him about a guy called 'mikey' who busts a bit of boogaloo... he'll know who you're talking about.

If you wanna get in touch. Have a practice sesh or have a friendly exchange of moves/styles... get at me some time:

Do any of you do actual break? Or just some liquiders... I've been considering learning break cause I've always liked it since high-school but.

a) It's hard to teach yourself cause you can't see what you're doing wrong.
b) Can't seem to find anywhere in Bris that teaches it which would be handy to get the basics down smoothly... quickly.

If you want to learn how to BBoy - check out UQ Sport St Lucia campus, they should be running Bboy classes again this semester. Ask at reception - should be around $6-7 a lesson, they have nice judo mats to train on also.

I dont think Gravity Warriors teach anymore, Channel direct shut down a while ago (as far as i know).

o yah, as maxe said, 12:30-3pm jam sessions PCYC in the valley on saturdays.
$10 for lessons with rohin, or $6.60 just to train by yourself.

Jam sessions are as below (u can always ask one of hte bboys there to help u out but these are not offical classes):

Tuesdays @ PCYC Valley (usually upstairs) 5:30-7pm $6.60
Tuesdays @ Brisbane boys college (their gymnastics place) 7-9pm
Thursdays @ PCYC Valley 5:30-7pm $6.60
Fridays @ UQ Sport MAG St Lucia 4-6pm free.

Be sure to bring some kneepads n stuff if your going to PCYC, because they train on hardwood bball court floors.
