And now they just went and offered the Paramedics course.. blah, cbf changing courses again so sticking out teh current one and hoping to jump ship the old fashioned way =\

ooooher. paramedic sure sounds classy and fast. (I bet its not as fun as it sounds) What is the course entry for it?

I dunno I forget the course name, it's some Health Science something or rather..
It's starting this year for the first time.

Being a paramedic would be pretty damm tough......never any good news.......but then again never a dull moment.

I was thinking of being a paramedic when i was leaving school. Probably would have gone for it if the government had of had the same amount of spots open for it as they do now.

Id be into it if it wasnt such a demanding job. I dont think I could handle the expectations after a while. ie cant let yourself f***up on anything, stressful situations, s***ty hours etc

If I was the kind of person that got into that then I guess id be into it hehe.

nope, don't even know where that is.

I just finished a science (biotech) degree at QUT and trust me biotech innovation is heaps better if you want a job straight out of uni.
Only 8 ppl graduated from the original 60 or so that signed up when the degree was first offered. They all got jobs, we straight biotech schmucks get nothing.
So I'll probably do masters later.

BSc, majoring in Marine Science and Sustainable Resource Management with a Dip.Ed to come.

I'm trying to find some nice easy third year CS subjects at UQ for my last year. I need two more third year subjects. Anyone got any suggestions? I've already done most of the easy ones :(

Have a bit of low self-esteem at the moment.

Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering (Structual) at Southbank Tafe, goes hand in hand with my job, work as a Structual Draftsperson for a engineering consultancy.

Everybody who sits around me uses me like help desk... Never should have said I was good with computers... really wanted to avoid that crap.

Some of you guys are doing really interesting stuff... Loki, you probally have a pretty good sense of humour (read: twisted). My mums a nurse at Greenslopes Private hospital and she has a wicked sense of humour (I have the same one). I tell you nurses tell some of the most f***ed up jokes, but they are damn funny (ohh and I realise you aren't becoming a nurse, but its similar conditions).

Good luck to you all. I must say being paid while learning... and getting all my course paid for is nice ^_^ too bad its part time.... and will take 4 years =\

Graduating on the 25th of Feb from Bach of IT at QUT... It was f***ing s***, dont do it unless you love programming or playing with "virtual" routers on a computer screen...

I wanted to take a more multimedia side to IT which barely exists at QUT, I ended up doing an E-Commerce major, the majority of which was really boring. The few subjects I actually enjoyed ie web design and multimedia ones were really poorly organised and run.

It was a bigass letdown to my expectations, I would've loved to play around with some routers and switches for some hands on experience, but doing it all with something that resembled some crap drawn in MSPaint just didn't really appeal to me so I did kinda bad at it :)


It was crap after the first year, everyone was like stick at it, first year always sucks, 2 years in... still blows but im 2/3 the way through I may as well finish it off :/

Moral of the story: if you think your course blows after the first year or hell even the first semester GET THE f*** OUT!

okay rubba now im scared.

ima bout to go into second year of IT at QUT, because i got 3 diplomas, yep count em 3 in one year at tafe. I was going to do Data comms most probobly as a major( if thats how it works i dont really know)

I dunno, you might like it, just wasnt my cup of tea. I'm a very hands on person so I really hated having to do everything "virtually"

Its called router-sim or some s*** like that. I actually hated it that much for the networking subject we had to do I didn't even study it at all. Was worth like 10% of the exam or some s***, I think I guessed like 1% out of it heh I still passed the exam easy as pie.

It's because all the decent multimedia subjects are in the Creative Industries Faculty, though to be honest it's still pretty disorganised. Then again it's a Creative university unit, therefore self direction and learning is king. Whether you agree with it or not. They teach you the basics, but everything beyond is up to you.

i did a year of b multimedia design at UQ ipswich in 2003 then called it quits. tutored for a semester last year which was a lot more fun than actually doing the courses.

Now i'm drifting and wondering where I will end up. WOOH. had a good year, even if I acheived nothing in the way of . . .acheivements.

Suddenly realised I should probably get a degree but now it seems a bit late for this year's intake.

yea spidz my course suits me and my personality perfectly.. im heading for a career in sports media. got a lot of high profile contacts, these days securing positions/work exp etc requires a bit of 'not what you know but who you know' action...

but saying that, when my business on the side reaches a certain level by mid this year i wont have to go back to uni.. or work.. at all.. for the rest of my god damn life.
