just wipe it with a tissue.

also, my gen3 has started making a clicking noise when charging in the dock and all of a sudden the battery lasts about 10 minutes.

lits, i was at office works the other day and i was talking to one of the guys there and he said that within about 3-4 months they get battery faults. and if you didn't get the extended warranty it is 120 bucks to get fixed

fubar, I bought my ipod from david jones and it has 12 months warranty. I went in there and spoke to the salesman I bought it off the other day and he told me to pop it in an envelope and send it to their supplier with a list of its faults (even if its just the battery) and they'll send me back a brand new gen4 in a few days.

jigzie, the menu button on mine is a little reluctant to work properly too. you need to give it a really good poke sometimes to get it to work. I always figured it was just a design fault, I dont really see how you could get something underneath it, it's a sealed unit.

wow for >$400 you'd expect these things to be working for years to come, you're telling me they last a couple of months then f*** up? apple must be making a tonne of money off all the suckers in the world. I'd rather buy a small creative nomad or something even if it only holds a day's worth, you can't listen to more than a days worth in a day so what's the point having more? Sure you have to copy more often but meh.

edit: oh and my first post was serious in case you thought what? wash it? NO WAY. we use isopropyl alcohol to clean circuit boards & stuff, it's pretty harmless and dries off in seconds. It's basically medical swabbing alcohol I think. (anyone work in medicine confirm?)
