So I watched this tonight.

Man it was totally different to what I thought it was going to be about, thought it was just them recording an album and then touring etc etc Turns out the album took close to 2 years, with nearly an entire year of that having the lead singer not there as he was in 'rehab'.

They had some good fights and s***, alot of cool footage and stuff you wouldn't normally have seem from say a 'band dvd' this doco certainly opened my eyes a little.

Anyone else seem it, if so discuss

I was talking about this with someone today and while they want to see it, i'll never give Metallica even one more cent of my money, nor pay any video store for stocking it. I even change the channel when their s*** comes on the radio.

They forgot where they came from and who they are... They can sell out as much as they want, but they won't be doing so with my $s.

I missed seeing this at the cinema so will have to watch on dvd, suppose to be an awesome doco.

Only thing I have of this movie so far is a special collectors edition from canada containing some kind of monster album with t-shirt.

I'm watching the DVD now. I think its a great insight to these guys.
Anyone who has had something to do with putting an album together will relate to it. The clash of personality's / ego's stands out the most.

s*** yeah Lars V James, Lars comes off as a total cock (at times) so the napster s*** doesn't suprise me as much after seeing this.

But on the otherside, it would seem - just making an assumption, that James pretty much has called the shots for the band for the past ~20 years in relation to creative direction etc etc

So its a nice power struggle

Kirk knows his role and clearly doesn't have as bigger ego as the other two :p

also, the truth about Jason leaving was good to know - I am not too sure if it was released to the public (I don't read enough articles about them to know).

James seemed to be a giant cock about that as well, so good on Jason for leaving!

Yep, excellent doco - out on Feb 10th on DVD I believe. And no, you don't have to be a Metallica fan to enjoy it.

Who do peeps hate them now so much? Is it cos of the Napster thing? If they were protesting against napster I cant see why ppl should dislike them for that!?

its actually quite funny, I don't think they knew the enormity of the while napster thing, there is a bit on the doco where you can Lars just wants it over, kinda like he'd bitten off more then he could chew

but yeah they've sold 90 million albums, so even if they only got a $1 each, they still have f*** loads of cashola....

Saw this at the art ouse cinemas, was really good. Shows you alot of what goes on. 2 years to make a s*** album, id be pissed as well. Lars is very arrogant.

The reason they changed there style is that james did his voice in after the black album.

Was funny to see the lead singer of megadeath nearly in tears about lars kicking him out of the band.

I'm talking about the last one, not the others after black. I liked all their albums until St Anger - what an utter s***pile.

That is MEGADETH, and dave mustaine > lars ulrich, dave maybe a little outspoken but he is smarter than the silly little danish boy.

Dave has been wanting to clear things up with metallica for awhile, even more so since Dimebag darrell was killed.

Feb 10th cant get here any faster.

Clear things up? Isn't that precisely what's been done already? (as seen in SKoM)

Metallica (Lars) already released their statement regarding Dimebag's passing

From what I heard dave mustaine say, what happened in SKOM was not something that helped clear things up. I may have mis-understood it though.

I was talking about mustaine after dimebad incident, he now wants to clear everything up with people that he has had on going arguments with, he has realised that arguing with past friends is silly.

Sif Mustaine is smarter than Lars - have a look at who is BY FAR the most successful ffs.

You are saying that megadeth has not been successful over these past 20 years.

Megadeth is a rare breed who keeps to their word on not selling out and play becuase they love to play not because they are given a fat load of cash to play.

Their is true to form success and then their is money/market rating success. Metallica is the later while Megadeth is a true to forum success. Over the 20 years of playing they have kept to the one style of music, while metallica kept changing styles to keep in the market.

Calling Megadeth unsuccessful is a sign of ignorance and shortsightedness. It would be fair to say that they've not shared the success of Metallica, but to deny the success that they have earned over 20 years and 10 albums is just flat out stupid.

You just agreed with me. I never said any more that - don't be so insecure.

FYI I've got all but about 2 of Megadeth's albums and I think they are cool, but the fact that they have remained in the same style has sorta made thier music a bit formulaic and dull but their mid to early stuff was rad.
