Check for broken caps or other electronic components. There is/was a particular type of electrolytic caps that were prone to bursting and leaking their electrolytic fluid all over the board - the PC would behave in a very erratic manner - random blue screens, lockups etc... one day it'd be functioning normally, the next it'd be all over the place, etc...
Also check for possible shorts on the board and other components in the system. It is also possible you may have damaged something with electrostatic discharge during handling. |

while abit boards are renouned for having bulgin/leaking caps I highly doubt a board of that age would be suffering from that. what PSU u got?

I've got the same PSU as you I think and while mine hasn't ever given me any grief in the 18 months that I've owned it, there is a chance there could be a fault with it. PSU problems wouldn't surprise me. Tried a different PSU and see if it helps? (I doubt it will).
Dodgymon, I know the boards you're talking about but I have also seen it happen on a couple of 2 year old P4 boards. I was more thinking that one of the caps might've been broken off during handling. last edited by sikfalcon at 15:15:12 30/Dec/04 |

Make sure your power cuplings aren't reversed and check that the flux capacitators are spreading evenly.
