playing ra3 after about 15-20 mins.
the computer will either restart, freeze or flash a "BSOD" and restart. dont get a chance to read it. i have reinstalled the game mods patches etc. it works fine on my bros puter we are connected via network. unfortunately its onboard video (thinks may be a prob). xp running perfectly. any ideas or points in the right direction would be great. |

Right-click My Computer -> "Properties"
Advanced Tab Startup and Recovery; Settings System Failure; Uncheck all the buttons below and change Write debugging information to none. I had probs with compatibility with my video card a while back. I'm guessing there was some minor error there, as is probably in your case and WinXP goes a bit too far and restarts your comp because of it. Give it a go and let me know how it works out. |

had I bothered to check those system logs last summer I'd probably have prevented my Nvidia 4600 from going into meltdown, taking the pc with it. also noted in the logs was some information about my old SB Audigy I had to replace about 6 months prior - it was noted as the cause the machine halting on more than one occasion before the soundcard died. |

Try didfferent video drivers. Ages ago when I had a GeForce 4 some games would randomly bluescreen on me and the comp would reset. When new drivers came out that stopped happening.
Apart from that I can't help. 8-) |

yea, which video drivers are you running? Nvidia's drivers cause me all sorts of problems depending which version I use.

please help... pleeeease We'd like to, but without having any decent information, we can't help you in any useful way. It could be anything. Try telling us: 1. Your CPU + motherboard 2. On-board video driver version (usually the motherboard driver version) 3. Sound card + driver version 4. Is it overclocked/stock-speed? 5. Game version! With some of the above information, we could try to pinpoint whether there is a known issue with Version XY of a driver, etc .. or whether your configuration is incorrect. Other than that, we can only make idle speculation with no evidence, which does not help you. last edited by parabol at 14:29:19 21/Nov/04 |

Well, after doing some quick googling, it seems like a motherboard driver related issue.
Feel like uninstalling the drivers and installing the newest to see if it makes a difference? |

Alright, try quake3 with the -nosound -nomusic parameters for a while.
Let us know if it still crashes. If it does not crash at all, then it's a sound driver issue from the motherboard drivers. last edited by parabol at 21:28:30 02/Dec/04 |
