hehe, pretty funny movie. It got a bit boring at the end I found :( Some really unexpected gore in the pub too. For the most part it was pretty good. Worth seeing to be sure.

I love just all the small side comments

"next time i see him, he is dead"
"why dont you go live in the shed"
"because these days nobody eats meat"
"no fighting you 2"

Other small things I think made this movie really good, was if you watch again not only comments they make come up to be true but also character in the background reappear towards the end as attackers.

Him flicking through the channels and all the channels make up 1 sentence.

Plus there is so many good scenes just the way they have done it.. Steady-cam following shaun through the street, when he falls on the chair and it goes from night to day. Also going through all the plans was pretty cool and when he winks with a smaile at the end is golden.

If you liked this then you must see "The Office"

1 last comment: "...on several occation he touched me.....that wasnt true, made it up, shouldnt have done"

Goddamn this was one of the funniest flicks ever.

Went straight up to my hallowed list containing gold like Super Troopers, Monty Python's stuff, and Office Space.

Scene where Shaun shows up at his stepdad's place with the bat was a crackup.

Also, pegging s***ty records at zombies, hahaha!

But my favourite part was giving Shaun the Pole Tennis thingy to take on the zombies, "YES!"....*slap*..."Nah, that's rubbish!"

Yeah, and I love they re-used the same bits of dialogue at different parts of the movie to mean different stuff. Like when Shaun is telling Ed what to shoot on the ps2, and then at the end Ed telling Shaun where to shoot the zombies. And the "You've got red on you" bits :)

And remember, dogs can't look up, Big Al says so!

Probably No.

And the actors in it (ones with birth locations listed) were not all American, they were Canadian and from the UK.

Shaun of the Dead did indeed rock. I love the way he wanders out half asleep and is completely oblivious to the fact the world has gone to hell.

While we're at it I'd recommend another horror/zombie/comedy/musical called "Dead & Breakfast". It's one of those so bad it's good movies. There are some decent gore fx and it's an absolute crack up, even if the story is one of the dodgiest I've heard in awhile. Oh and it's got David Carradine (Kill Bill) in it... briefly...

Does this count for reviving a dead thread? lol (lmao)

I have seen this movie about 5 times now, and everytime i see it i notice something else that makes it even more awesome. Eg - Shaun makes 2 trips to the store - both times are exactly the same, but the second time there are zombies where the humans were before!

I hope you are joking?? Him not noticeing the zombies, and walking around in his own dazed world while it collapses around him, is what makes this movie funny.

Watch it again and you'll see what I mean apart from the obvious! The fact that the movie is so naturalistic and not over played makes it even more funny.

"You gonna thank me?"

"For what?"

"Tidying up!"

"It doesn't look very tidy..."

"Well I had a few beers after I finished."

LOL

"Your mum rang about going over there tomorrow for lunch. Then Liz rang about eating out with her tonight. Then your mum rang back to see if I wanted to eat her out tonight."

LOLOL^^

You dont have to see dawn of the dead to get some of the jokes in shaun of the dead ? Or is one fairly independant of the other ?

Shaun is a movie completely on its own. It is somewhat a parody of the whole genre, but more of a social statement. It is not a cheap jokes film like "Scary Movie", it is a quite serious movie with zombies and a lot of realistic humour.

I am more amused watching Old School or Super Troopers for the 50th time.

I guy at work recons it's more a parody (if that's what it is) of the original Dawn of the Dead, rather than the 2003/4 one.

Dunno. Been a LONG time since i've seen the original.

See, the difference is: Shaun of the Dead is quite funny, but the humour is somewhat advanced--

while Super Troopers and Old School were complete arse.

Shaun of the Dead was a crackup. Loved it.

The humor in shaun of the dead is no more advanced than super troopers. Unlike oldschool where the comedy is super basic I found super troopers FAR more ammusing.

Sure, shaun of the dead was good but I liked super troopers more.

Unless Super Troopers gets tremendously funny after the first 3/4 of an hour I don't see the appeal -- I turned it off before then.

They're just different types of funny - Super Troopers, Old School (and for that matter pretty much everything Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider have done) is American humour (don't kill me Trog). It tends to be simplistic and based on fart jokes and low humour. Whereas Shaun is English humour that tends to be drier and based more on sly wit than slapstick.

Although there is still a lot of slapstick and crude humour in the movie ("you c***s want another drink", Smacking zombies in the head with a tennis ball) the funniest things were the ones not stated - like the dazed walk to the shops through all the zombies, the comments about which records could be thrown and which couldn't, the love hate relationship between Shaun and his mum and stepdad... Classic.

Anyway, another good one that's been mentioned in the past is Dog Soldiers. It also has a lot of the english humour thrown into the horror mix.

A couple fun facts on Shaun of the Dead. Apparently, they thought about calling it "Dawn of the Ed" (after his mate Ed obviously) but it'd already started getting called Shaun of the Dead so they didn't want to change the name and confuse people. Apparently Romero has seen it and thought it was great. And finally Shaun (and probably Ed) will have cameo roles in Romero's next zombie movie (tentatively titled "Land of the Dead").

Yeah shaun of the dead pretty much rocked. It was funny to see the black books characters, particularly Dylan Moran (Bernard) playing completely different roles to what they do in the series.

Yeah, was strange seeing bernard acting like a pansy yuppie, I was expecting him to start hurling abuse at everyone and light up a ciggy.

But it was cool to see all those actors from some of my favourite british comedys in one movie, guys from Spaced, The Office, Black Books, League of Gentlemen (no not the movie, there's a show, completley unrelated)
