This doesn't really surprise me either, but only because I thought this had already happened years ago?

You only have to walk into an EB store to realise how obvious a conclusion this is. Consoles get all the prime wall space up the front of the store, PC gets jammed in down the back somewhere.

Console gaming has always been more popular than PC games, whats new? And the fact that consoles like the xbox and to a lesser degree the ps2 are beginning to offer things that the pc has always done such as net play would only strengthen consoles position.

NOTE I DIDNT READ THE ARTICLE

Consoles appeal to more people (read: lowest common denominator dumb as dogs*** people) and seeing as how there is more idiots than smart people in the world, its a natural inevitability...

With a console you can just plug in a game and off you go. No need to worry too much about hardware compatibility issues and problems with crashing and what not. Besides more people tend to feel more comfortable sitting right back in their lounges with a control pad in their hands playing using their "dedicated" gaming machine on a wide screen tv rather than sitting uncomfortably in some crappy chair having their faces stuck into a 17' monitor worrying about what ergonomical excerices they need to carry out next.

That's how i feel anyways.

Dont get me wrong though, pc gaming still kicks ass, but sometimes it's easier to go to a console with 3 other controllers plugged in to enjoy some (for example...) golden eye goodness. It's also good for a change.
