by far the best flight sim available, with the added bonus of land and naval warfare.

its been around for years, nut now its worth checking out, as all the updates have made the game realy great.

Free Trial available right now, (blue moon opportunity).

Sorry WWII inline was a bit too expensive after 1st month and the site was too difficult to figure out for this old man.
Thanks but no thanks,
Other than BF1942 is there any other good WWII online sites or are there any good flight sims of any kind worth checking out.
Thank you

You can play IL2 Forgotten Battles (and the Aces expansion) on GameArena even if you're not a BigPond user. Just grab COGS: http://games.bigpond.com/cogs

I think it will autodetect what you have installed and then you should be able to join the servers from COGS.

G'day Cloudy,

I think you'll find that your lag on FB is processor / memory related, 1500 DSL is pretty spanky.

Recommended specs for FB are 2.4GHz processor with 1 GB RAM.

_RAAF_ Squadron fly FB via HyperLobby. If you play on a local server and on a mission map that does not have too many objects in it, you'll be jake. Also, you should check these settings:
Make sure that you have your Network setting selected to "Modem (9.6k)" in FB "Setup", Skin Downloads set to "Off" and disable your anti virus s/w when playing (seriously), we have found that these measures reduces our lag.

FB is still the latest and greatest combat flight sim on the market (they are releasing a Pacific Theatre version soon called Pacific Fighters which should be even better).

If you want to go back a generation, try Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator 2, flight and damage modelling is not nearly as good as FB but it will be lag free with your DSL. Play CFS2 online via MSN Zone.

Good luck but try those settings for FB, that's where its at.
