As you probably already know Foxtel and Austar have launch a series of new channels on there pay TV services as part of there new Digital pay TV system, One of these new channels is TechTV, a channels providing a reasonable amount of new programs directed towards people with interest technology and computers.
When I first saw this channel early it year, when the new digital services started, I thought it was pretty good, it managed to help a bit some computer problems and opened me to some new things in computing and technology, then I couldn't stop watching it for some reason. Later on I found out that in the US TechTV as about to merge with another US pay TV channel G4, so I went to the G4 website and found that G4 was another computer and technology based channel but with more gamer directed show, this new channel seemed very cool, and I wandered if we would get anything for this merger, a couple weeks later I got to see the affect of this merger to our service and instead of getting a new channel with some gaming related programming, what I saw was repeats repeats repeats of programs that had been bumped from the new G4TechTV channel in the US, only two of the shows on the International service were being renewed. But this is only the beginning. Some point towards the start of next month Austar and Foxtel are dropping the channel due to, according to them, new owners of the channel not being interested in keeping the international channel going. If you have anything to say about this, please post here, also if you are a subcriber to Austar or Foxtel, and a viewer of TechTV, or interested in seeing the new gamer directed G4TechTV, there are some interesting forums on this matter at there website - http://www.g4techtv.com - you can send e-mails to Austar and/or Foxtel asking for TechTV, or for them to introduce G4TechTV, and/or you can add you name to this petition at http://www.PetitionOnline.com/techtv04/ Thank you |

I have heard heaps of mates talk about this, but the company that owns techs tv has made the decsion already which makes it pretty sad.
But maybe us gamers and tech enthuiast's arent at a big enough community for a channel yet :( |

The only channel I was looking forward to when getting Foxtel Digital. Now they are showing repeats which are still bad but ok because I havent seen every episode. Get a terrorist to threaten to kill someone unless they show G4TechTV or keep showing repeats!! http://www.PetitionOnline.com/techtv04/ (kidding about terrorist remark) |

It seems to me that people have taken the idea that nothing can be done about this problem, and your probably right, but at least if your someone who likes the idea of a gamer/tech based channel show some support to this problem, so at least we have show some support to the idea that someone my pay attention to and take into concidation. As to the surgestion that we are not a big enough group to pay attention to, I believe that to be wrong, otherwise this site and others like it would not be here, or at least would be full of pop-ups and adware. The reason i think computers, gamiing, and almost anything to do with tech in australia doesn't get much attention is because there people out there are people out the in business and other area who still don't understand all of it, thats why I believe it need more attention in australia.
for more info on this go to this forum at G4TechTV.com: http://forums.g4techtv.com/messageview.cfm?catid=48&threadid=160273&FTVAR_MSGDBTABLE=&STARTPAGE=1 |

Is Foxtel giving up on TechTV also. When I put TechTV on mainly its repeats but I saw one episode telling you about the new G4TechTV website and takeover. Hope they continue with G4TechTV. |

I should have put this in my previous post but does Foxtel actually know about our petition. What good is a petition if Foxtel doesnt know about it. Come on we need AT LEAST 10,000!!! not a pathetic 275 (maybe then Foxtel will listen) |

I do believe Foxtel does know about the petition, but this problems is out of there hands, they have actually been showing tapes they made before the cut off by Comcast on the 1st of July.
Keep adding your names to the petition. Since Austar has stop the broadcast of TechTV the numbers on the petition have been going up more rapid, also go to Techtvaus.members.easyspace.com for more info. |
