Topic: Just how long did it take for your ADSL to be connected?

I'ts been 15 days now since I singed up for ADSL, and I am still waiting for it to be activated.

Jeez this is bs!

I am curious to know what delay everyone else has experienced.

I know most ISP's say that up to 21 days is possible, but seriously is Telstra really that slack and arrogant to allow other ISP's to have quicker service for thier customers or does Telstra screw thier customer as well?

Will this post be edited because Telstra are in association with AusGamers? Hmm

I just went through the Telstra Bigpond ADSL sign-up. I waited 17 days and then I rang them. It turns out that my service was actually 'ready' for activation but nobody had 'informed' me. So my advice is after the 2 weeks or so, ring the mugs. I have to say im generally happy with Telstra ADSL. Not as fast as Optus for d/l but quite good for browsing etc. No dropouts at all.

Well, just an update.

I signed up for ADSL on the 1st of April, it is now the 23rd.

I would assume that nothing will happen overy the next three days (Weekend & Public Holiday) so that means I will have waited a total of 27 days, thats again assuming that it actually gets installed on Tuesday.

This is ridiulous, sure I haven't begun to use my ADSL so I am not paying for it at the moment, but still they have taken the money from me, and a $99 activation/setup cost should be taken into account.

I mean if it takes 21 days in the first place, and they escalate your status to get it done quicker, why can't they do that to begin with?

Anyways, no point bitchn' about it I guess as nothing will ever come of this. I just have to sit and wait. If however it does come to the end of the month and I am still waiting in May, I will be asking for some money back or an upgrade to 512kbit.

Thanks for reading!

Took me 17 days..

The reason. The first tech from Telstra forgot to connect something at the Exchange. he was too busy leavin early for the easter holidays...

then had to wait longer to get another Telstra Tech to go out to my exchange and paych it correctly.

Telstra allways seem to do this to me...

I ended up singing with DoDo, as they are offering the best price $49.95 after $29.95 for the first 3 months for 256k.

I am still waiting as at 26-27 days and if by the 30th I aint connected I will complain. It's just too long.

They say it's some crap about not being able to find a *sweet spot* suitable frequency to run the ADSL on.

The delivery of my Modem was basically overnight, which made me belive I would get it on within 2 weeks. But here I am many weeks later with my modem installed and waiting to just get connected, it's already gathered some dust, thats how long it's been.

256k is a good deal for unlimited, but I was dissapointed to find out that the max DL speed was 32KBs.

Thanks for replying all, it gives me some bearing on where I'm at.

well as it happens, now finally after all this time, they tell me all the ports on my exchange are full up, and telstra have to put in new ones, but no ETA, so I am probably going to cancel my braodband.

Truely Pathetic
