Hi Everyone!

Been looking around for a good TFT to play games on - not having much luck - they cant seem to handle the speed of the games. But my old flat CRT plays them fine.

Any iideas much appreciated???

Unless you have a problem with space, i'd just stick to your crt monitors. I'd wait untill they make better lcd (did u mean lcd or tft) monitors before buying one. Hopefully they will be cheaper too. You can pick up a Benq Flat Screen 19" crt for about $330 at the moment, now thats a hell of a lot cheaper than an lcd!

if you're alright with wasting money (i..i mean spending a lot), you could go for a samsung 172x. pcpp says its the fastest lcd monitor with a 12ms pixel response time. it'll cost you though. around $900 bucks retail for a 17". i recommend just sticking with your crt until lcd's drop in price.

The reason LCD screens r so expensive at the monent is that there is a supply shortage around the world. Once all the big companies start drop the CRT from their production line, supplies SHOULD increase as well as prices fall.

i've got a black samsung 193t, more as a development monitor, but it handles games fine.

the rotating panel is useful when coding, as you can get heaps more code on a page.

as a gaming monitor, it handles Call of Duty well and NFSU, so i can't complain.

cheers, thetinman

It had to happen - Went out and brought a Samsung 172x

Checked around - read all the reviews - heaps of my friends had some type of LCD and most didnt cut it.

Make sure you have a DVI out video card - looks excellent. My standard res. is 1280 x 1024 - and the 172x runs native beautifully at that res.

Now I'm not saying that CRTs are dead for people wanting nice pure colour. But this 172x..... wow it really really really comes close.

Best price i saw it online:
http://www.auspcmarket.com.au
836.00

Post up any where u find cheaper - enjoy yeh gaming

Since the 12ms barrier has been broken (for TFT's), I expect prices on CRT will plummet in the next few years as TFT or another flatscreen technology moves into it's place. I wouldn't get one now though - the technology still hasn't fully 'matured'.
