Make a file named .htaccess in the directory you wish for the directory contents to be visible and place:

Options +Indexes

inside it, just that line by itself. Next, upload the .htaccess file to the place you would like for the directory contents to be visible. If the .htaccess already exists for that directory, simply modify the existing file and add the line to it. This option is inherited recursively for each child directory. If you want to stop it at just that directory, for each directory underneath the directory you upload the file to, make another .htaccess (or modify if it already exists) and add:

Options -Indexes

to the file.
