2100 dpi gaming mouse being released by Boomslang. Seems a tad on the expensive side (about $113AUD) but hey if you are competing in some elite comp it might just help you a tad. :)

Sniper™ Boomslang™ 2100 Features

Hyper-Responsive Scroll Wheel
The increased pulses per revolution (PPR) allows Sniper™ Boomslang™ 2100 to cover ground faster and more precisely than standard mice.
5 Programmable Non-Slip Buttons
The rubberized surface prevents finger slippage, making it easier to be cool under pressure.
On-The-Fly-Sensitivity
Holding the thumb button down and scrolling the wheel during a game pops up a scale on screen to change sensitivity on-the-fly. Adjust instantly for different situations, games, opponents.
Less Movement, Less Fatigue
Designed to reduce fatigue and stress from intense mouse usage, the ultra-high resolution and sensitivity of the Sniper™ Boomslang™ 2100 requires less movement than any other mouse.
6 MIPS
The Sniper™ Boomslang™ 2100 operates at a blazing 6 mips (millions of instructions per second) while the traditional mouse chugs along at about 1.4 mips.

its only 100dpi more than the boomslang 2000 and 2000dpi was plenty, you could go from one side of the screen to the other (1600x1200) in less than a cm with the 2000 in high sens.

Lets hope they fixed all the problems that there where with the 2000 such as one axis sundenly dieing of becoming unresponsive. Overall the 2000 was a good mouse, Managed to get 1 of the 2000 and a 1000 for a review a couple of years ago. Still have the 200 around somewhere, might have to have another go with it =].

if by skippage you mean the sort of undesireable behaviour you get if you flicked old opticals quickly, dpi is not really related to that

of course an insanely low dpi (eg 1) would produce another sort of skipping in that you'd have to move the mouse an inch to get 1 unit of movement reported (cf. setting your m_yaw/m_pitch to 1 in q3) - however as the standard is 400 or so this is rarely a problem.

the scanning rate of the mouse is what determines whether or not it will skip (skip as in the first definition). this does NOT relate and is thus nonsensical to compare to the 125/200hz of usb/ps2 report rates.

some uninteresting facts
v1: 1500hz 400dpi
v2: 2000hz 400dpi
v3: 6000hz 400dpi
logitech mx engine: 5250hz (so I've been told) 800dpi
other optical mice: who really cares :P

the 'negative accel' problem with mx mice in 800dpi is due to the fact the mouse protocol can only report 127 units of movement per direction per axis per update. moving faster than this and the update will simply be clipped to 127. subsequently a mouse running at 800dpi will have a terminal velocity half of that of 400dpi mode (all other things being equal)

boomslang dpi has always seemed utterly insane to me, but i've never had the chance to try one. looking forward to some informative reviews :)
