I have a friend who hired a DV cam and asked me to dump it to PC, i managed to get a DV tape player for free on loan and what im trying to do is capture the video and audio in 1 hit at good quality (640x480 +)

Iv tried adobe premier but it will only let me capture 1 at a time and try and match them, thats a bit much for me right now, and i havnt got that much time. In a proper edit suit i can do it, but I can get access of one. Any advise on software that can do this besides premier?

well if you have firewire (like me :D) you can just capture it straight to mpeg or DV-AVI on the computer, takes up alot of room but you can div-x it later on. If you hired the thing then there's probably not much point in getting a firewire card unless you plan to do this often, if you have firewire onboard then all you need is the cable which is only about $12-$20 I think. (oh and then there's software, I use windvd creator coz it came with my motherboard)

i would have thought it would just be easiest to go from DV cam through firewire into premiere. it should be good quality, you can compress it if you wish and its fairly fast.
