Hi there, i have a 128mb jetram sdram pc133, and a 256mb unknown brand sdram pc133, and i turn my computer on and it says i have 192 mbram i have no idea what is wrong because it worked fine yesterday. i have tried different ram ports, using the 256mb one by itself and that gave me 64 mb ram, and sometimes the screen just stays black.

And the other one works fine.

Help me please !

possibly something to do with your motherboard not supporting memory modules of that size.... has it worked in the past, or does it always do this ?

my guess is it can only take 128 meg chips at max, and is recognizing the 256meg module as a 64 meg module

edit: didnt read post properly.. thats pretty wierd.. try re-seating the ram and swapping the location of the modules... sounds fishy.

sounds like that 256 stick is screwed if its only giving you 64 meg on its own. hell, 128+64 is your 192 number so could be a problem with the ram, dont have another computer to test it in?

what motherboard?

I have the same MOBO and I got problems where my 512MB stick would shadow one of my 128MB sticks (I have 1x512, 2x128) when the 512 stick was in the slot closest to the CPU. When I rearrange then so the 512 stick was on the end it was fine. So try rearranging the sticks and seeing if that works. Also, try leaving one stick in at a time and running a RAM testing program to see if any stick is borked. Docmem is a good proggie.

I tested my yum cha ram with memtest and got no errors...w00t w00t. I'm yet to test my not so yumcha ram.

There's a sticky post on OCAU I think about ram testing programs if you have an ocau account go see if you can find it. memgold I think was one. Some are free some are not.
