There is a Value within the registry that I am trying to delte. Its not a Windows file, so its not vital. When I try and delete it it says..
Unable to delete all specified values You can't edit these values either. I *thinK* I have disabled the program that could be using it. I have booted up in safe mode and it still don't don't seem to make a difference. How do I delete them? |

if ur trying to use the registry editor make sure you have admin access and not just a regular user. Maybe that's it?

why would you want what? are you trying to f*** with the registry or the system? the registry requires you to use a registry editor. Are you trying to delete a file off the hard drive? You say values here and files there what the f*** are you trying to do?

There is a Value within the registry that I am trying to delte. Its not a Windows file, so its not vital. When I try and delete it it says..first you call it a registry value, and then you call it a file. If its a registry entry it wont matter if a program uses that entry or not (as long as it isnt doing somthing to it at exact same time you try to delete it, but really not even that would stop it from being deleted). If its a file, tell us what the file name + path is so we have a remote idea of what you are on about (even if it is a registry entry, post the path + entry info). |

I think I just figured out wtf he's on about. There's a value in the registry, pointing to a file which doesn't belong to windows. It'll be in the HKLM/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run and it'll be a virus or a porn dialler thing he doesn't want his parents to know about :p. That is my best guess as to what he's up to. The only reason I can see for regedit not letting you delete the key/value is becaue the user account you have logged on as does not have the proper mermissions to do so. If it isn't your computer then I suggest you don't be messing with it, if it is yours, log in using an account which has administrator privaledges and use regedit from within that account.
Might also help if you tell us whether it's win9x or 2k/xp (hasn't got much to do with the registry key, but if it is a file you're trying to delete may help to know the os) |
