also burt:

"Hey All,

Seems that this has been building for a while, but anyway just thought id make a public note of it.

In the best interests of the members of this and any other forum I make the following recommendation.

I'd recommend anyone with a modified vehcile on these forum pages or on any internet site to not publicise their mods on the pages within any site or even mention them in relation to anything that could identify their car. Whether it be their nickname being their plates or being their website showing pictures with their plates.

Especially those with personalised plates making them easy targets.

Its become apparent the epa and law enforcement are using the net to collate lists of modified vehicles and ordering them in for epas. We have suspected it for a while, but wasnt actually proven until today with poor boobs getting stooged and having a copy of his website shoved in his face.

This is pretty underhanded seeing as they dont even need to witness the vehicle travelling on public roads - for all they know the mods may have only been put in for track use, and never ran anywhere other than private property. For instance i plan to have a road registered car that is actually legally modified, but has additional mods fitted for track only. It doesnt even get driven on the roads with the modifications in place, and has them attached only for the track (eg removal of cat etc - for track use only). But if mentioned on my site, i could get ordered in and have them assume it means I run around 24/7 without a cat etc - guilty before proven innocent.

But take this recommendation and remove any ties between your mods and your vehicles identifyable features.

In light of the fact the authorities seem to be seeing fit to use genuine car clubs and interest boards as sources for their mission to remove usually well looked after modified cars from the roads (rather than getting dirty 50 year old rustbuckets blowing loads of smoke off the road), these forums and any other related ones will most likely become rather non descript and probably password protected. With vehicle specifics being kept to a private section, and members of these sections having to be personally known and voted in by others.

If that means member numbers will drop off, so be it, at least we will not have to look over our shoulder every time we try to help people out and mention our mods.

Im not saying that we are are encouraging illegally modified vehicles, however i do believe that stalking out their victims on the net in our own trusted communities is pretty low.

Again, dont get me wrong, we try to cooperate with the cops and agree that illegally and dangerously modified vehicles need to be removed from the road. BUT I dont think its right to be using a site that is openly available for the public to join, and for the police to come along, and see we arent all about hoons - to help them target specific vehicles. I mean we are here in good faith, we do charity runs, we do events in coordination with the cops, we try to show the community that we arent all about being idiots, in the hope we can get some respect, and what happens? because of our openness and trusting - thinking we might get a fair deal - we end up being the ones that get screwed over cos we dont try to hide.

We would have more luck getting away with everything if we were a totally underground operation, running illegal drags all the time, with a totally private website and not inviting the cops along to anything etc.

It would be like having cops come to the royal childerens hospital cruise and go there to defect people. Sure some of the cars there will be illegal but they are there in good faith, and its seriously messed up im all for cops stalking the illegal drags and defecting people there - cos its asking for it doing illegal stuff in the first place. And while it could be argued that modding your car is illegal - its hardly as blatent as attending the drags and threatening life etc whatever. At least in the past we have found that the authorities turn a blind eye unless its something dangerous, simply cos they realise we are there to support someone and that it sometimes is best to build up a relationship, as we can help push the police initiatives fromt he inside, rather than them creating a war."

i didnt download the second vid cos I think ive seen it before, and if its the one ive seen, sif

not even the japanese are that crazy to hang the ass that far on the street. You need to be going a s***load faster, and you dont want to try that s*** anywhere other than a track/very very wide road. Not when your risking your own car, that is.

maxe - I've put the arse out on my Torana by s***loads further than that vid when I had 4 people in the car (almost 90 degrees while still going sideways - brought back cleanly with no over-correction).
Not that I'd do it anymore, but everyone did when at some point :)

The entire video bored me, not enough rear wheel action, you only need to go faster to get the rear to swing out if you want to go through the corner fast.

There was some footage of a camera at a set of lights that captured a commodore (or somethin similar - cant remember) doin it how it looks good, tail flicking right out there.
