Looks like some kick ass special effects, I saw the trailer to it in the opening to Tomb Raider.

if the movie has a story line ANYTHING like FF7 it will be the best movie ever, Einstein if you think that final fantasy's dont have good plots i think YOU better be the one searching for a brain!

The new shots look awesome. From what I hear, the script is a great read, and translates well to the screen.

Square are the people who have made 9 (soon to be 10) of the most involving and plot driven RPG's on the planet. I get the feeling they'll have a flair for the cinematic as well. But what do I know?

ff8 was more of a cinematic game then anything else, was my fave ff. gotta love the intro to irvine kinneas *bang*

I cant wait for that movie...having been a FF fan for a looong time. I cant hlp feeling it would be better in Japanese with subtitles though...the american accents seem out of place to me.

phwoar, the first time i played an FF was the ff8 demp, the whole running away from the crab-mech thing blew me away.

sprayNwipe - That second pic looks bad, the characters really look stuck on, which is something I haven't noticed in any of the other pics.

FF8 SUCKED ARSE! I hated it.... It lost all of the fun factors that made all of the rest of the series great (Especially FF6 and FF7), and turned it into a chore factory of stat building and that gay junction system. FF9 is awesome, heaps of fun and really brought it back to the fantasy roots of FF.

The movie looks awesome, great animation and graphics, awesome characters and looks to be a great watch.

FF em ghey and boring...what plot, the s***e you call a plot is sooo weak....btw i think the movie looks pretty good though, although i think the plot will prolly be pretty weak

oh and yeah...the ppl who made Shrek...it was only that little half arsed company Dreamworks, not the mega-corporation Squaresoft, as if Dreamworks have a budget

ff7 had the best combat by far ... my characters were SOOOOOO f***ing hardc0re ... maxed stats ... lvl 99 ... all master materia, all summon materia ... all f***ing mastered too ...

ff7 was by far the most difficult one i've played, to get 100% s*** done anyway
ff9 is pretty sweet
ff8 was just great for the cutscenes.. the game lacked a bit

by the way i (and that was from the first look) thought that ff was real time but nooo it had to be turn based, bloody wankers. sorry about that but i heared they were gana make the so called star of FF (the girl) would be in other movie.

Mmmm uber-detail...

Even if the movie has no story line (but let's hope it does so that it doesn't get thrown in to the public's "eeh, computer graphics" basket), it will be fun to watch. For anyone that's seriously interested in renderman shaders, you'll be drooling for months over the procedural materials they've come up with. You can see just by the skin texture in the link above that there are at least ten different shader levels... in a word: impressive.

I guess we'll see how it stands up in 24 or so days.
