Im currently with "OzForces" or as they have now become: "PovForces". I Would like to change my Internet Service Provider as soon as possible, but I don't want to be stuck with another slow, reconnect 4 times before it works connection like this one. What im asking is - Does ANY 56k Modem Gamer, who lives in a (fairly)rural area (bout 30 k's outa town) have a good connection they would like to share/promote? as I am looking to sign up at the end of the month. One condition though, the ISP cannot be on the Comindico Network, as I think its the slow network for my location. Apart from that - hello everyone! |

haha i feel your pain man, and i don't even live in a rural area, more like suburban (outside Brisbane itself). I used to have to connect 4 to 5 times just to get on the net, and instead of my 56k running at 56k it runs at 33.6k. I do have a solution for your multiple connecting, ring up your ISP's tech support..get them to give u this special command that limits at wat u connect at. It may make your internet a BIT slower but i means u connect straight away and won't have as near as much random disconnections. i hope that works for ya. and for the good ISP thing...i've moved heaps and still can't find a good one...i think its cause we both share a crummy location for internet..not sure hope this helps.

I know the feeling very well. I live in a rural area. I've moved several times from different ISP's, and so far have found the best to be TPG. It also has some good plans as well. $16.99/mth for an unlimited download limit (No conditions apply to that). There are 2 catches, 1 is the 4 hr session limit, the other is that you have to prepay 3 months in advance. I live about 30 k's outa my nearest major rural city. Hope this helps.
http://www.tpg.com.au EDIT: It says on the left that i live in VIC, but i actually live in NSW, about 30 k's outa Albury, so if you're interested TPG would more than likely be available to your area. |

Well i don't know why that would be, i've always had good pings. I was just trying to help out by offering what i had found to be true in my area. How would i know what the ISP's services are like in other areas.

I used to be with TPG and I found them to be awful. I would get Downloads at around 0.02 to 1.0 k/ps, and I live in a fairly big city (Newcastle).
Now I am with Kooee (on the iPRIMUS network) and get downloads at 8 to 9 k/ps most of the time. But they are Newcastle based, so I don't know how good it would be in your area. They are available all over oz though. PRICE: $24.95 per month, Unlimited everything, but you have to pay for 3 months at a time. http://www.kooee.com.au |

Pair-gain ring any bells? My house in Adelaide supports this wonderful feature, which limits your phone line to exactly half of what it's supposed to be, beautiful! I get 160 - 190 pings on CS, not that I play anymore, but downloads are terrible - maxxed out @ 3.2kb/s!.. FANTASMO! |
