Well, got the swat 3 1337 edition patches installed today, and goddamn if it doesnt kick arse! Seriously, anyone who owns S3 should d/l this stuff ASAP, its around 55mb for the first patch and 3mb for the second. What you get:
-Multiplayer obviously. Its got Coop, DM, Team DM and Last man Standing. You can play all of them by yourself with respawning Tangos to cap. Its absolutely top fun, and the DM game actually works really well. Its like CS, only realistic, and fun. (mainly seeing as there are no cheaters or teams)
-s***LOADS of new weapons and weapon variations. ALl the basics are there, plus new variations with different sorts of scopes, suppressors etc. In terms of new stuff, you get the HK G36K (two variants), teh HK UMP45 (two or three variants), a 1911 rifle (three variants) A HK MP5SD3 (dunno what the diff from the standard mp5 is tho) and a new pistol, the Socom suppressed. Unfortunately ther news weps and variants are multi only :(
-All the weapons have great new sound effects, so they dont sound pissy anymore. They really make you jump when you hear them for the first time.
-New orders! Yay! You can finally order CS gas on breaches. Also, you fbangs can now blind you, which is a bit of a bummer.
-All round general AI increase. For example, surrendered civs can actually get up and run away if you dont cuff 'em. Annoying bastards.
-More than one skin! In fact, a s***load or news models with multiple skins for each one.
Anyhow, its great! You should be able to get it here. Its in the Ausgamers files sections but the link is dead. Cough cough lazy admins cough.
I hope to give it a go multi this weekend, so try it, and give me your opinions!

A HK MP5SD3 (dunno what the diff from the standard mp5 is tho)

My point exactly Einstein. The diff between this and the regular mp5 is negligible. One has a folding stock, thats the only difference as far as I can tell. The M1 garand is cool though :)

Well "the regular mp5" as you put it, is not a silenced weapon. So the difference between the two is one is silenced, and one is not. Now, if the gun you are assuming to be "the regular mp5" is not in fact "the regular mp5" and is in fact an already silenced version of the mp5, then I can see your dilemna.

Maybe one has an external silencer and one has integrated silencer?

Bah, someone seems to have deleted the other swat3 post, so im ressurecting this one. We still need to agree on how this is going to work.

Hmm, i just bought Tribes 2 yesterday, and i reckon its a bit, well, crap, i suppose - so i might take it back and exchange it for Swat 3...

Can someone answer a few questions about it?...
OK i'll take your silence as a yes.

1.) Are the gfx any good?
2.) How many weaps roughly...?
3.) Is the dmage etc realistic, and finally
4.) How long ago did it come out and what does it cost??

Cheers.

1.) Yes. Very good.
2.) In the main game there are only four (the weapons that the real LAPD SWAT uses) but in the elite edition multiplayer there are about 20 or so including variations.
3.) Yes, very much so. Different bullets also have different penatration on different surfaces, so a 9mm FMJ may penatrate glass or plaster, but not thick wood, whereas a larger round would pass through them all.
4.) Its about a year old now. Try and get the regular version if possible, as you can (legally)upgrade to elite for free off the web. Dont pay more than $50 for regular or $70 for elite.

Youre probably right Khel. The problem is getting everyone together. Maybe we could meet on IRC at a set time or something? Also, does anyone know if you can run a dedicated server? I dont think you can, which is pretty lame.

I think the diff with the sd3 is it has a folding stock, with non-integrated suppressor. Anyhow guys, hows this:
Ill talk to Khel sometime Saturday afternoon. He can make the announcement, and point me out, so anyone who wants to get the patches off me can. Come find me earlier if you dont want to be caught in the mad patchz0r rush, ill be there at 9:00. Well see about a Sunday matchup too if you guys are interested.
