How much would you pay for this? Its a 22mbit connection - asynchronous its 22mbits d/l and 3.2mbits upload. Synchronous its 13mbits both way. I think if Telstra would stop being a bigot on technology I'd probably pay about $100/month for either one. But the problem is it would obviously be capped AND have a download quota. What do you guys think? - sR |

It is my understanding that Webcentral have one of the fastest privately paid for links in the country... Trog would know. If you remember the same concerns were voiced when cable came out. There's onlt so much dowloading a single person can do I guess... |

My understanding was it was actually dual 100 megabyte / sec, not bit. Hex on he who caused this bit/byte problem! 11 megabyte / second isn't actually that much if you think about it. (For eg, 4000 modem users downloading say 2kbyte/sec is over 7megabyte / second) Plus of course the huge number of websites they host, and 11 megabytes / second sounds pretty puny. |

who u talking about? power up or webcentral? my understanding is they are on different links. and 100mbps is Dual Fibre - TX and RX (upload and download) i doubt u will find ANY isp in brisbane/australia that has more than 100mb for dialup only! |

there's stacks of different links going into the WebC/Powerup building. My understanding is all the bandwidth is shared, so powerup essentially sits on the same thing 1 x 100mbit to telstra, 1 x 100mbit to UUNet. Being smaert, I just looked at the powerup webpage, which says "100mbit links"; I'm pretty sure that's right. |

FYI, I think the INSTALLATION FEE for the Telstra 100mbit link at the time that WC got it put in was in the magnitude of $80,000 - $90,000. |

well it cant be 100 MB/s cause that means that webc/powerup would have the entire of brisbanes internet backbone (from telstra anyway) going to their building |
