my board is jumperless, has certain stability issues that go away when the GF2 card is run at 1X |

Check out the GeForce FAQ, this link may be the one you want. IIRC there is a registry patch for Windows 2000 that forces AGP 1x. Also, check out Microsoft's knowledge base, there is a fix (or two) for AGP under Win2K. Not 100% positive they'd apply to you but it'd be worth checking out. |

could be, should be, ISN'T, does anyone actually know a fix...c'mon get those brains workin' btw the M64 it replaced ran fine at 2X and the card doesn't lock up in 2D apps only 3D unless forced to 1X i'm thinking maybe powerstrip is writing to the registry and windows 2000 doesn't like it, ideas?? |

I had a similar problem for a little while too... try reducing the AGP Aperture Size in the BIOS to 32MB or lower (maybe even 4MB) and that will fix it. |

I thought setting the AGP Aperture really small turns off AGP altogether, but at least one other article states that setting it to 8 or 16mb actually runs it as 1x so that could be worth trying. Have you checked out this: GeForce Mobo comparison. You could also have a look at This guide from Tweaktown. It's for Via chipsets and is aimed at enabling AGP4x but start there and look around... I don't remember what mobo you had (did it run a VIA chipset?) but here is an article on the MS knowledgebase about an AGP graphics fix for Win2k. If you are running a VIA based mobo you should also check out the latest VIA service pack. Get it from Viahardware. If none of those help, well post the make & model of your Mobo... |

ok skrybe...it's a bp6 mob which caries the BX chipset intel o' course i noticed many users had similar probs over at bp6.com forums the only solution that worked running at forced 1X...setting the aperature too low does turn off AGP...it run's all outta sync and is generally crap, again does anyone know if win 2k protects registry settings that perhaps powerstrip is trying to change...if so, how do i stop it?? |

ummm hello? The AGP Aperture is how much system RAM can be allocated to AGP. It can cause some stability problems with Windows 2000 on some boards. On my KT7A-RAID, I have to set the AGP Aperture to 4MB when I install detonator, and then after it reboots, I can set it back to 64MB and everything works fine. Try it it's worth a shot. |

Here's a thought, the BP6 says that the IRQ for the AGP slot is shared with the PCI slot 1. Have you got a card in the first PCI slot? If so you may want to move it to a different slot. Finally, you may want to try NvMax. It's the tweaking tool I use. I must admit I haven't tried it under Win2k, but it says it works... |
