Lately i've been noticing that a heap of people throw their cigarette butts out the window when driving. Isn't that what ashtrays are for? It really annoys me when i see that cause little does that person know, they could cause a massive fire or something. What do you guys think about it? Does anyone throw their used cigarettes out the car window? Why? |

yes house roofs are great ashtrays when you're visiting someone else's house
the butts are out of view and they get washed out in the next downpour =) |

That is one reason why lots of people dislike cigy smokers. Yer I love looking into gardens in the city and noticing the soil is half yellow from ciggy butts... I love how people belive that the ciggy butt is too good for their car but is ok for the rest of the world.. I love how people smoke out the front of building that I have to walk into. I love having to pick up paper work that fell on the ground and havign to wade through ciggy butts to find it. I love giving a bunch of people that were smoking here an Ashtray.. Next morning the ashtry wasnt even used and ciggy butss all over the lawn.. I love how people just drop their ciggy on the ground and walk off without even stamping it out. I love how wereever I seem to look there are ciggy butts on the ground, in the garden, in gutters, in trees, in where the f*** they feel like droping them. I hardly ever see anyone walk up to a bin and put their ciggy out and put it in the bin.. Problem is, you smokers seem blind to all the ciggy butts around the place. They are Everywhere! Some of us dont smoke for a reason, you'd hardly even begin to comprehend why. |

I dont see how ciggerette buts are any different from any other litter,(apart from the fact that they burn) yet society tolerates and accepts ppl just throwing them on the ground everywhere. Put them in a friggin ashtray ppl!.... or dispose of them properly somehow. Noone wants your f***ing filth.

my friend went through a stage when we were 14 where all he wanted to do was get a pack of alpines...we sat around my street for 3 hours untill my mate who was allmost 18 would get home and run down to the corner store for him to get the alpines, we all called him a girl for wanting to get alpines...when he got his precious alpines he didnt want them any more because they sucked....in conclusion alpines are for girls and my mate was a f***ing girl for wanting alpines.
Time for a PJ then bed. |

Pfft. Cigarettes are for the weak minded, and weak willed.
We cant comprehend why you smoke? Because we arent that weak. Simple as that. I've heard it all, "Im too stressed", "Everyone does it", "Its a good way to meet chicks", "My mother made me do it" lol. And then the classic "I can give up whenever I want to. $1000000 worth of Cigarettes (they arent cheap) later... You make me sick, literally... it's hard to breathe around you. Do us all a favour and smoke where you wont affect others. They have areas for people like you. |

so much anti-smoking bias... and i'm jumping on the bandwagon too.
i have a friend who smokes - i have to always move when talking to him if the wind blows my way. he throws butts down and when i tell him to at LEAST stomp on them to put them out he says "sif" or just stares at me blankly. i'm sick of seeing ciggarette butts everywhere too - it IS garbage, and you should have to deal with it. just because it's small doesn't make it any less damaging or offensive. as to throwing ciggarette butts out windows, cars are an enclosed space and you shouldn't be smoking in there. not only that, you're driving drugged, and therefore should be considered unsafe to drive, and also you have to pull it out of your mouth, and that's using your hands for something other than driving, and look they illegalised mobile phones for this very reason. |

What s***s me, is when smokers hang right outside the building at work. But i dunno if they realise, that the front counter is right near the front door and catches the breeze thast comes in. Put 2 and 2 togther guys, the smoke is going to waft in the f***ing door isnt it!!!!
Also, there's this one guy, who seems to think he's exempt from like obeying the law. He walks in with this dirty old rolled up cigarette in his hand and proceeds to ask me questions and waves his hands around in front of my face as he speaks!! a******! |

i recon you should be given a fine if you smoke and through you r butts on the ground it is f***ing disgusting.
and as if you would smoke in a car, if there are other people in the car at least. If you can get a rrested and have points taken off your license for using a mobile the same should apply to smoking while driving. I ahve seen people in the city doing 60 and bending over and not being abl to see 1 bit of the road lighting a ciggy. and then they crash and go "i don't know what happened". Smoking is for the week minded, if you really want to be kool give it up and you will live longer too. |

You do have to watch your butts a little. I had a friend who set fire to a newspaper by his cigarette butt. He didn't even know cause he left before it was blazing. Pretty funny to look back on, but the darn thing must have been burning even while we sat there. passing motorist let us in on the secret.

what possible reason is there to smoke?? what your lung capacity is too much so you need to infect some of it with cancer to reduce it?? you have a big adams apple and need to infect it with cancer to get it removed aswell??? You don't like white teeth, instead a sickly shade of yellow is more your style...

smoking is s***, end of story.
I love how they will happily destroy our environment and themselves, then leech of the government to get the health care they are "entitled to" when the know full well that it will cause them to get cancer in the lung run. Pfft this thread could go on forever, bottom line is smokers are rude and don't give a f*** about others. I can easily smoke a packet of ciggies via passive smoking when i am out, well it feels like i am enhailing that much! |

smokers in the workforce is a load of s*** as well!
I have 3 people in my section at work that are smokers, so what entitles them to have 4 or 5 "smoke breaks" which by the time they get in a lift and smoke the cancer stick and get back to their desk, could last for 5-10mins as they seem to be a very social bunch these smokers...they manage to have conversations and the like whilst smoking... Bottom line is they get an additional say 20-30mins a day MINIMUM in breaks, why then can't I go outside for 30mins, I would get in s*** from work, yet these tards can go out and smoke... Smokers cost employers money in terms of sick days DUE to smoke related illness and they cost them due to lack of productivity whilst on these smoke breaks. meh !fireup me :P |

How about, lung damage, cell damage, molecular damage, dna damage, increased risk to a variety of diseases. None of these worry you? Doctors should refuse to treat imbacile smokers, especially if a condition they happen to get is directly related to smoking.

I know when I was smoking I would only go for a smoke at lunch, or if I realy needed to power though one, I would work longer to make up for it. Most smokers I have worked with over time take very few extra breaks, and normaly those breaks are the same time that people go to get coffee and such. The simple thing is that the person who is ripping you off is your employer. He isn't supposed to let smokers have a million breaks. If he is paying them to be inside working then that is exactly what they should be doing. If he doesn't regulate, or enforce it then of course people are going to try and get a sweeter deal. Bottom line is they get an additional say 20-30mins a day MINIMUM in breaks, why then can't I go outside for 30mins, I would get in s*** from work, yet these tards can go out and smoke.. I have seen non smokers who are just as bad as smokers. They are the enternal Coffee bunch. Every large office always has a stack of them. Every hour or so they walk off to get a coffee, and have a 5 minute conversation at the coffee pot, and then a conversation to every single person on the way back to there cubical. Smokers cost employers money in terms of sick days DUE to smoke related illness and they cost them due to lack of productivity whilst on these smoke breaks. I have had way more days off due to sports related injuries than due to smoking. Actualy I would guess that more money is wasted each year by people chucking sickies because they couldn't be bothered to go to work. As for loss of productivity, yes the people who abuse a employers good will by taking smoke breaks that last 15 minutes every hour, and the coffee drinking f***s who take a 15 minute coffee break every hour or those that come in 10 minutes late, leave for lunch 10 minutes early, come back late from lunch ten minutes late, talk to there co-workers for 10 minutes about how good lunch was, and then bail up 5 minutes before work finishes, realy make it unfair for the rest of employees who are just doing the right thing. |

Should they should be treatd, but they should foot the bill.
Ironic that the amount they would have saved if they hadn't would be enough to cover medical bills later on in life related to their smoking. |

Same as doctors should stop treating injuries caused by playing sport. How is sport and smoking in the same arena. Injuries arent inflicted on purpose in most sports unless youre fighting in the ring. Most are accidental. I like the other idea, they should be made to foot the bill, not totally refused treatment. |

I agree with wolfiee here. People who smoke now the risks associated with smoking... its written all over the packets!
Whereas playing sports is usually designed to improve ones health, and injuries are accidents. Treating smokers conditions compared to sporting injuries.. two totally different things |

typo you make a valid point with the coffee go'ers, as I am in an office with 350 people, we have these coffee people here as well.
I dare say that half of the people that need the caffeine are also smokers! Combine the two and hello early death :/ But yeah there are alot of people that waste time in offices, I have had a lady in my section that was on the phone constantly, like no s*** it would be rare to see her off it, thats f***ing worse then smoke breaks ( but shhh we are paying out smokers :P). Well i neither smoke nor drink coffee and only take my 1 hour for lunch, nothing more nothing less, so I do feel cheated, people can go get either coffee or have a smoke and get away with have extra breaks, like you have mentioned the employer should police this i guess... I like your style of reply's looking at both sides of the coin :) |

say your going out for a fresh air break.. thats what i did in 7-eleven
all the lil smoking workers use to be able to stand outside teh store when no customers were around and have a smoke, but ones that didnt smoke had to stay inside and work, so i just started standing outside and when my boss said something i said i was having a fresh air break.. he then relised how stupid letting smokers out for a break was and he got over it. |

Injuries arent inflicted on purpose in most sports unless youre fighting in the ring. Most are accidental. But you know that the injury rate in most physcial sports is very high. Why should society have to foot medical bills of people who play say Rugby. Also people don't start smoking to get cancer, or to get sick. They might have started because they where uninformed, or just plain stupid but that isn't a good enough justification for not helping someone who is sick. I agree with wolfiee here. People who smoke now the risks associated with smoking... its written all over the packets! There are a lot of differences between the two. But the initial complaint that we shouldn't have to foot the bill for smokers because they know the dangers. I proposed that we shouldn't foot the bill for people who play sport (assuming that it was a contact sport) because they knew the risks before walking onto the field. My opinon of smokers is that it is a s***ty habit. Which is why I stopped smoking. I know exactly how dirty and disgusting it is. People shouldn't take time off of work to smoke, just like they shouldn't take time off of work to drink coffee (excessivly). Hell people shouldn't waste time at work, you are being paid to do a job so do it. Currently our medical system gives medical support to people who do serrious hardcore drugs, people who where speeding and people who don't brush there teeth. Should we stop giving coverage to all of these people? Why? Do you all live perfect lives? Do you all live in a perfect manor doing absolutly everything you are supposed to do to live a totaly healthy way? Most people don't, sure smokers are f***ing retarded, but you can't just impose that people who do retarded things shouldn't get medical coverage. Although all of that said, I personaly can't wait untill smoking is banned from just about anywhere but your own home. |

Because you are a weak willed lazy bitch. I kinda enjoy smoking you know. I dont need excuses to smoke, i enjoy it. If im working (rarley) one in my lunch break gives a false sense of satisfaction that i need. Or after 4 hours of gaming, lifting my ass off the chair to go and have a ciggy really satisfies and helps me think about all the elite frags i made and how many people i f***ing oaned. Or after sex, the false sense of relaxation realy mixes well with the after sex sleepyness. Dont like it, dont do it...other wise shut the hell up, all your deoderants f***ing stink and i cant stand walking by someone with f***ing smelly deoderant omg you guys are polluting the planet with your s*** deoderants please dont use s*** deoderants in public places because it affects my ability to stand next to you and not complain about something. |

No offence but, reformed smokers are as bad as born again christians
You speak out your ass and ram your s*** down everyone else's throats wether they WANT your opinion or not. smoking reduces sexual fitness haaaaaaahahahhahaha so many many assumptions, keep bitching folks, it's a good read For the record, i buy pouch tobacco, which is a damn sight more healthy for you (as compared to tailors). Depending on the brand, it smells less as well as rollie butts being white and insignificant. If i happen to miss the bin, it looks like someone else's paper rubbish A pouch with super slim filter contains about 120-130 cigs, i go through a pouch about once every 3-4 weeks. You do the math, i'm not a heavy addicted smoker, as i said i have reasons, so continue flaming f*****s |

i was reading int he paper that some doctor refused to give a patient a lung transplant because the cause of his illness was because of smoking. he also had another patient who ahd lung caner as well butthis person had never smoked in his life he just got it. any way teh doctor gave the non smoker the transplant and then the smoker tried to sue him.
But finnaly the case got thrown out because he was at fault. also if you are seriously ill and it is because of substance abuse then you will be put to the bottom of the line for a transplant because it could have been prevented, but it was your fault. [edit] all the smoker si know and have met a faggets. all litte hard cores that think smoking increases their popularity. i would rather live a little longer than have a few faggety friends who are gonna be dead before they reach 50 |

all ou faggety smoker sahve the right to smoke but for once maybe you can concider the people around you. if you smoke near a child, like epidemik you increase hsi chances of smoking by 400%.
now that is a f***ing high percentage. you may think you are cool but you are just week minded little f***s, you are destroying your bodies. and as to teh fact smoking reduces your sexual what ever. no it doesn't, all it does is increase the chances that if you ever have kid he will be as f***ing retarded as you. that is why they say don't smoke whil pregnant, because the cigarete makes the baby develope early and there for esome parts don't match up. so go ahead and smoke i don't care just don't do it near me and don'tsay i didn't tell you when your baby is f***ing retarded. |

thanks cobz it's easy to point at the dirty smoker and say "weak minded" blah blah yadda yadda blaaaah In the end, i try to be very considerate of others, waiting at the bus stop i get up off my seat so the limp wristed looking guy can steal it, i walk away from the stop and smoke over there. Waste of money? 20 dollars a month is less than what most of you pay for your dialup internet... whos addiction costs more =) Asking for cancer? Why, yes i am. The chance of stroke in my family is EXTREMELY f***ing high... f***ing sue me if i want to die before i'm 70 and a gibbering vegetable. Stick it up your f***ing asses (And no... you f***ing peons, wanting to die is NOT my reason for smoking, so put away your paragraphs of crap) |

Yer Cobz, you wont smoke around them... Yuor freinds will when your not around to tell them to stop. Strangers who smoke will, they just dont care. You better make sure your kids are always upwind from the smokers. O wait there is always another smoker further upwind, so you cant win.
I heard it was illigle for employees to smoke out the front of their buidlings, too bad this isnt enforced.
The employers see this people and take note of them, unfortunatly they dont seem to take note of the people that work for their full time + some. For the people that say smokers shouldnt get medical stuffs, well their ciggies are taxed very very very highly, some of which is used to pay for ciggy related medical treatments.. So they are paying for it in a way. I dont care if people want to smoke, it is their choice, but when their choice starts affecting those around them maybe they should have a little think of where they are standing, and where the wind is going... But that powerful feeling for lighting that ciggy just as you leave a building usually overwelms the smokers brain it seems... |

I really don't care if people smoke - it's up to them. I've had the odd smoke with a beer which I've quite enjoyed but I've stopped doing that because It's a habit I don't want to get into.
What does piss me off is people who litter - cigarette butts, rubbish or anything else thrown out of car windows makes me want to explode. Show some respect for the place you live in and put it in the ash tray in your vehicle. |

you do relize that one day you r kids are gona find a pack of you cigs and they are gonna become an adicted cock head like you.
ffs you say you enjoy it. Ooohh does it give you a rush knowing you are probably gonna give lung cancer to others. wait you don't care about others. so it must be. you like the feeling of filling you lungs with a substance that will kill, you feel like you are defiging the ods of death. well sorry to tell you if you smoke you will get lung cancer. wether it be ina month 5 years or 10you will still give up. think about your kids man if no one else, they are gonna be hangin around you on your death bed and probably follow you there ina few years. einstien u stupid f***. you say you are not heavaly adicted but that means s*** you are still adicted, and that is the point. if you can give me, actualy if any of you selfcontrolless little smoking f***s can give me a reason why they smoke i will give up but untill then. Who cares if others smoking think you are weak for not smoking you are actually the week one for smoking. *end rant untill next fagget says something* |

There is no logic in smoking - it defies logic. So you must assume that it is soley the addiction to nicotine that keeps people doing it. Something non-smokers (who have never smoked) can merely speculate about.
If you ask someone if they enjoy smoking, they must base there response on the first time they had a drag of a cigarette, not on the current state of their altered perception of enjoying addiction. Anyone who says they enjoyed their first drag of a cigarette is a liar. Read this: http://medicolegal.tripod.com/toxicchemicals.htm It has all the answers if you can be bothered. (tis big) |

The nicotine isnt the sole purpose, there are heaps of reasons. Such as socialising, picking up, doing something with your hands... That is why people find it so hard to give up, because usually they only focus on the nictoine. They dont find things to replace teh ciggy in the hand feeling, nothing to replace the socialising aspect of it, nothing to replace the mouth movements... |

it's easy to point at the dirty smoker and say "weak minded" blah blah yadda yadda blaaaah I used to smoke, in fact I smoked for more than 10 years, and I smoked a lot. I know exactly how hard it is to quit. Anyone who says they enjoyed their first drag of a cigarette is a liar. I can remember my first drag on a smoke. Sure I coughed and splutted. Then the amazing headspin. It was that headspin that would got me smoking... one pack would last two weeks. Slowly and surly I became totaly addicted. Just before I stopped smoking, it was a addiction, and a habit. That was the hardest part of quitting ... breaking the habit. If you havn't smoked before you wouldn't understand how insidious the addiction is. Mostly because it is so very easy to go get more smokes. I can still remember exactly what it felt like for the first smoke of the day. I can still remember the rush that brain gives out when you forfill its addiction. Hell sometimes I still reach for my smokes or my lighter when I walk outside. If you are not a smoker you more than have the right to complain about it. Just don't talk about how you know anything about smokers. You only make yourself look dumb. The only people here who can tell einy that he is a weak willed retard are ex-smokers :) luckly I am a ex-smoker. Einy you are a idiot. |

dont drag and drive.hahaha maxe, good one. i am also going to agree with tpyodemon in that if you play sport, you should foot the bill for injuries. like come on, you know it's gonna happen eventually. you say "but it's good for your health!" and i say so is smoking, to a degree. it isn't like cigarettes have no benefit whatever, it's just that the disadvantages far outweigh the advantages, and the damage to the environment, including humans and the artificial environments we create, is disgusting. If i happen to miss the bin, it looks like someone else's paper rubbisheinstein, you're assuming that normal paper rubbish is ok, and as far as i'm concerned, that's not either. i've actually tried to litter before, with not very good results - it actually takes me more effort to litter than to just throw it in the bin, where it should go. littering is stupid - it's out product, we should deal with it accordingly. would you agree with people just taking a dump outside everywhere? while not the same thing, again it's our produce and we should deal with it accordingly. and i know you're enjoying this einstein, because all ignorant people, or people who act ignorant, just laugh in the face of anything that goes against their beliefs. |

Why should society have to foot medical bills of people who play say Rugby. Most sporting injuries are probably looked at once by a doctor and then referred straight onto a physio. In which case the athlete is footing the bills. How can smokers be misinformed, the packet has written all over it, "Smoking causes cancer" not smoking may cause cancer. Playing rugby doesnt mean youre going to get injured where as smoking youre guarenteed to get some disease or damage something in your body. There are a lot of differences between the two. But the initial complaint that we shouldn't have to foot the bill for smokers because they know the dangers. The point is smokers know there is a direct danger to their health when smoking, thats the difference. Currently our medical system gives medical support to people who do serious hardcore drugs, people who where speeding and people who don't brush there teeth. Should we stop giving coverage to all of these people? Whats the difference, hardcore drugs are illegal so they should be in the same boat as smoking, speeding again if its your fault then you foot the bill. And everyone knows you pay insane amounts of money to see a dentist. When was the last time you went to a dentist who bulk billed? Why do you think private health cover gives lower premiums to their healthier customers? |

Not every smoker dies at the age of 45 from there lungs crapping out. The vast majority live though to there normal lifespan expectancy, and then get there smoking releated illness. Whats the difference, hardcore drugs are illegal so they should be in the same boat as smoking, speeding again if its your fault then you foot the bill. And everyone knows you pay insane amounts of money to see a dentist. When was the last time you went to a dentist who bulk billed? Why do you think private health cover gives lower premiums to their healthier customers Firstly you can't just leave people on the streets to die horribly. Are people supposed to drag in someone in great pain and suffereing only to get them to a emergency ward be diagnosed with say a OD, and to be turffed out of the hospital unless they have medical insurance? Dentists who bulk bill? If you have access to a health care card, you can get free dental treatment, including general checkups. Well 14 weeks ago at any rate. As for Private health cover... Who specified private health cover. Even if you where reffering to private health cover then you had nothing to complain about because smokers do pay more. With the 180% tax on ciggerettes, and higher preimums on private health care, no one on those plans can realy bitch about smokers. Public health cover however you could possibly have a cry about them... But if you removed there cover you would have to remove cover over anyone being stupid, or with relitvly decent risks of getting injured. |

Ironically, smokers pay WAY more weekly tax than a non smoker. I'm sure without the massive amounts of money this generates for the government, income tax would go up. So, non-smokers, stop whining. Smokers are preventing you from paying more tax, and support the government more than you do.

Couldn't be bothere reading all the flames but i thought i'd add my thoughts.
I don't hate smokers as much as you all seem to, That does not mean I somke (I can't stand it) I never have and never will. It's not the fact that someone smokes it's just that there are a few (well a lot) of f***ed up smokers who leave lit butts anywhere, blow smoke in your face and so forth. However, in my experence, this is just a small percentage. Just like the classic 'geek' gammer, those few have labled a whole group of people. I don't know about each of your stories but many of my friends smoke and they know I hate the stuff so they move, yes they MOVE, on there own accord no less (or at least go down wind) They always put their butts out and then in a bin. So before you all go crying to mummy that the bad man is f***ing up your environment look to see if you can help instead of just flaming faceless smokers. |

Warnings on labels are recent. Not everyone who smokes is under 25 Warning labels began appearing on cigarette packets around 1966 and the US had federal legeslation on warning labels out in 1972. So a lot of people would have known about the warnings 30 years ago. A lot of sporting injuries are broken bones, muscle knots and such ... Most sporting injuries are not broken bones, but strains of ligaments, muscles and tendons. All of which would be accidental in a game such as rugby. So either way youre taking a risk playing sport or smoking. But is the sport directly related to death and disease. Not likely. If you play rugby for 50 years, you are going to get hurt and most likly pretty badly at least once. Of course youre going to get hurt sometime in your life, but would you purposely, snap a tendon, strain a muscle or break a bone. They are all accidental injuries. But if you could avoid them you would? This post also shows your amazing knowledge on smoking. Not every smoker dies at the age of 45 from there lungs crapping out. The vast majority live though to there normal lifespan expectancy, and then get there smoking releated illness. Where did i once tell you about my expansive knowledge of smoking or tell you that smokers die early of their lungs crapping out and all the other s*** above. No where. Firstly you can't just leave people on the streets to die horribly. Are people supposed to drag in someone in great pain and suffereing only to get them to a emergency ward be diagnosed with say a OD, and to be turffed out of the hospital unless they have medical insurance? Yes of course there is the humanity factor in all of this. I dont want to see people die needlessly, but if you choose to kill yourself, who are we to stop you with your decesion, all about free choice right. Ignore the mountains of evidence and do what feels good! So what are the advantages of smoking then? What does it do for you? |

all that comes undone when they're living off a resperator at the expense of others.. Yours is a good attitude to have, and it's good to see that the government's messages of imminent smoking related death have gotten through to the youth. But, it is not factual that all or even most smokers will die early/be on respirators. My great grandmother smoked 1 pack a day from the time she was 16 till when she died (From old age) at 102. Andre Agassi smokes cigars. Brad Pitt smokes unfiltered camels. Winona Ryder smokes, Gwyneth Paltrow smokes.. the list goes on. I quote these people not to say it's cool, but merely to say it is possible to remain healthy, look healthy, and smoke at the same time. If you read that link I posted you will find that there are safe limits (speed limits as such ) of chemicals and toxins that the body can process and not be affected by. Lower strength cigarettes fall under the 'speed limit' for almost every chemical listed as being present in cigs. The human body's ability to filter and cleanse is amazing - if it were not you would last about 1 minute from a walk down the street before you were infected and killed by a bacteria you breathed in. The people you see on respirators are the people that smoke a lot. They smoke heavily, and lead a life of inactivity and normally drink a s***load of alcohol to boot. The combination of being a sloth, heavy smoking, heavy drinking and more than likely lots of fast food(lack of proper nutrition) is what rapes them, not the ciggies alone. |

(And no... you f***ing peons, wanting to die is NOT my reason for smoking, so put away your paragraphs of crap) And yet he STILL hasn't told us the reasons. I'm not a smoker, never have been, never will be. But i'd hate to think what my lungs are like just from passive smoking :( Damn you smokers to hell. |

Necra, do you drive a car?
Once again i'd like to remind you I dont like smoking or smoke. Tref a lot of the people that you mentioned get a LOT of help to make them 'look' good and healthy. Ultamitly it's their choice as long as they respect the fact that I don't want that s*** in my face it's alright with me. And as pretty much all the smokers I know keep it away from me (and i let them know if they don't) it's all good with me. For those of you that complain about it inside a pub/club and stuff you have a choice wether not to enter that pub/club. IMO it's more likely to get hit by a drunk driver then to die from passive smoke. |

Yeah true. Either way, if cigarettes were never conceived nobody would have to worry about it would they. I agree though, cigarettes raise the risk of many conditions/illnesses, but death is not necessarily imminent from smoking them.
Cigarettes need to be slowly withdrawn from society, till the point that they are non existant and are nothing more than an article in a school text book describing how stupid people chose to take up a habit of smoking the road to ill health. |

i respect that you have to wade through entrails and diseased cardiovascular garbage..... but all you see at the hospital is those poor f***ed up people who don't get exercise, don't eat healthy, and smoke a pack a day
what you don't see is the extremely casual smokers and the ones who give up the habit *shrug* i know what smoking does to people, i'm aware it could be doing the same to me, but that's the choice i've made, f*** if i WANTED to quit i'd do it tomorrow, i don't want to, end of story |

read it any way you want fags most people try to quit or want to quit but can't because of the addiction, how many people do you know that willingly and knowingly poison their bodies and choose to continue doing so? i'm not addicted, i'm not stupid, if i was i'd know =) |

Heaps, because the satisfaction of the addiction overules their self preservation. Addictions are powerful, they'll make you belive things that arnt true, they'll have you deniying things just make it so you belive you arnt addicted. They creep up on you, keeping you unaware, sowly altering your thoughts and perception. Anyone who thinks they are above addiction is probably wrong. |

as to throwing ciggarette butts out windows, cars are an enclosed space and you shouldn't be smoking in there. not only that, you're driving drugged, and therefore should be considered unsafe to drive, and also you have to pull it out of your mouth, and that's using your hands for something other than driving, and look they illegalised mobile phones for this very reason. ahah thats like saying, if u drink a coke and drive then your driving drugged. to all non smokers IF YOU DONT LIKE MY SMOKING, MOVE AWAY FROM ME |

f*** if i WANTED to quit i'd do it tomorrowi was just waiting for someone to say that. ahah thats like saying, if u drink a coke and drive then your driving drugged.actually, you shouldn't be driving while drinking either, you dolt. the whole reason they banned mobile phones is originally because your hands weren't free to control the CAR you're meant to have your FULL ATTENTION on the car YOU ARE CONTROLLING. god, what is hard to understand about that?!? and your comment about non smokers moving away from you if they don't like it? you are the person with the habit. people who DO something shouldn't interfere with people who choose not to do it, not the other way around. this thread is gay - someone post the pic, it deserves it. |

When people dont wipe thier ass after taking a dump their ass stinks like dump....this can also be said about animals unable to wipe their asses with paper after taking dumps because they have no hands to hold the paper in and make a wiping motion, sure cats cover their dumps with dirt or whatever they see around them (sometimes they get confused and try to cover their dump with their own dump) but that is only in vain because the cat itself did not wipe its ass after taking the dump. So in reality the cat is insecure about the smell of his own dump and tries in vain to cover it up...the cat relises this later on during the day and is forced to clean its own ass with its tounge through insecurity but keeps forgeting this after taking the dump, its a vicious cycle.
Thats for taking 5 minutes of my life reading that i wont get back. |

"IF YOU DONT LIKE MY SMOKING, MOVE AWAY FROM ME"
This should be the other way around, by standing near us you are not only f***ing yourself over but doing it to others aswell. Even moving down wind when standing in a group is good enough for me, but the f***head that blows that s*** in my face knows that I want him to move and unless their f***wit's, like you seem to be, they move. Can somebody tell me how to quote? |

no they do not need to be killed off... the government should decide to make the drug illegal. i smoke and as long as it is legal and i pay my share of the tobacco taxes why should i be victimised. basically you have no right to do that.
i smoke in places which are smoke friendly and do not smoke in places where it is banned. as long as smokers play by the rules then why should they be dsicriminated against. there is no evidence of the danger of passive smoking so all you are complaining about is the discomfort of smelling someone's cigarette smoke. similar to having to smell some untidy bastard's fart in a lift (over which others have no control) be careful of who you turn into criminals because we all cut corners every day of the week.... |

Looks like I entered this convo a little too late. Anyway, I smoke. A packet of 40's will last me over a week as long as I don't start drinking.
However, right now I have a carton a beer in the fridge here and 2 days off work. I can't see this packet lasting me a week anymore. 8-) |

"there is no evidence of the danger of passive smoking so all you are complaining about is the discomfort of smelling someone's cigarette smoke"
No evidence? How misinformed. Journal of the American Medical Association: >> Japanese researchers followed 30 men over three months last fall. Fifteen were healthy young men with a mean age of 27 who did not smoke. The other 15 were similarly young men who smoke but have no history of heart disease, high blood pressure or diabetes. Results of the study were impressive and imposing. The Osaka City University doctors showed that just 30 minutes of exposure to secondhand smoke immediately compromises the cardiovascular system of nonsmokers in ways that are indistinguishable from smokers. The specific mechanism affected is what is known as endothelial function in the coronary arteries. When working properly, endothelial cells prevent the arteries from narrowing or constricting. They police the arteries, in part by releasing nitric oxide. Passive smoke disrupts the protective process of endothelial cells. In an editorial accompanying the study, Glantz wrote that the findings are "important not only because they illustrate the importance of preventing nonsmokers from any exposure to secondhand smoke but also because they help explain the relatively large risk of death and other cardiac events associated with passive smoking compared to active smoking." >> |

You would have to have brain damage to smoke. Why the fuk would anyone want to pay donations into a company which could give a toss about the fact that you will be killed by the s*** they sell. The cigarette companies are no better than a common drug dealer. Fukin tossers who smoke and throw butts out the window of the car are low life degenerates. Those filters dont break down for up to 7 years. They end up in the watersways and enevetably in the gut of some poor bird or fish and they end up getting killed by these loosers. |

Zyan: why not google up some non-institutional evidence - journals have only one interest and that is to feather the nests of the academics who review and administer the articles submitted for publication.
http://www.forces.org/evidence/evid/second.htm for starters :) |

Jim: agreed
infiNex: as opposed to those using Nazi statements to try to support their cause? Right. The fact of the matter is, even if it wasn't harmful, it still STINKS. Of course, smokers don't realise this because a) they get used to the stench quickly b) it's highly addictive (any smoker that says otherwise should try to quit smoking and see just how addictive it really is). |

People shouldn't litter by chucking their cigarette butts out of car windows... keep 'em and chuck them in a bin.
Everyone has the right to decide if they want to smoke or not as long as they don't do it near me. You want to damage your health and shorten your life, fine. |

My point exactly. There is absolutely no need for it. It's not that hard to walk to a bin or ashtray and put your cigarettes in there. If there's none around? Take a bag or keep them with you until you find a bin.
All that crap gets washed away into drains killing innocent animals and ends up not only polluting the air, but also the waterways. Some smokers are responsible, but for those who are just f***ing lazy and couldnt give a s***... think about where that cigarette you just threw on the ground may end up. For some its just a matter of a) using your f***ing brain or b) getting off your fat arse and taking a few steps towards a bin |

the concept of littering vs. smoking itself are two different things.... get straight what u want to complain about.
in respect of throwing butts needlessly into public places i couldn't agree with you more - i throw them into my own backyard so :p |

Who said we had to limit this conversation to a single annoying feature of smoking? (If this conversation was about bad drivers, we wouldn't just have one form of bad driving cropping up, would we?)
I'd like to complain about both: smoking, and smokers that think they have a right to litter (it's not exclusively about littering because a lot of smokers that litter with cigarette butts don't litter in other ways, which indicates that a lot of smokers believe throwing cigarette butts anywhere they want is not a form of littering). There is nothing I find more annoying when walking on the beach here, than to be walking along and then realise you have a cigarette butt stuck to your foot because some idiot decided that the beach was a rubbish tip, or to see floating cigarette butts juxtaposed with dolphins swimming further out in the bay. |

If you're complaining about smoking (which is Legal in case you'd forgotten), it's just like saying; "Geez don't you hate people who drive cars."
Not "drive cars irresponsibly"; not "drive cars which belch out smoke". I don't think anyone has a problem with people who drives cars - but many of us have a problem with the WAY people drive cars. Same goes for smoking. Why not face it - as long as you're complaining about the habit itself instead of the WAY people smoke and dispose of butts, the you've got nothing. Go hang out with all your non-smoking friends. Smokers don't need jackboot police like that anyways. |

people who drive cars don't walk around smelling like petrol fumes. they don't rev their engines in the pub while i'm having a drink, they don't shine their high beams at me if i'm sitting at the bus stop. There is no way I can "passively drive" by walking near them.

With the exception that driving is actually useful.
I can't remember the last time I was walking along the beach and found a *car* stuck to my foot. |
