Well, its all good and fine to have CS and Quake 3 comps at QGL, but how about bringing in the console comps?

Games like Soul Calibure and Tekken Comps.....

Just a thought :D

We have had a few small comps (at the february lan there was a proper tennis comp), and we're going to be running more, but probably not to the same extent of the CS and Quake 3 comps. While 100 or more people will enter a CS comp, probably 30 to 50 people max would enter a console based comp :)

But yes, more console comps are definately something we're going to do. Like I said in another post, next Lan is a retro type of thing with Super Mario Kart and Mk2 comps on the Snes (theres been some interest in a Streetfighter 2 comp but it will just depend on how much time we have).

After that, I'm sure we could put on some Tekken and Soul Cal comps if the interest is there :)

More team games should be done though, for the comps. Would be more fun, such as DOA2 tag team...erm..Powerstone 2 team...Virtua Tennis..

Soul Calibure is what everyone likes though? I dont understand myself..pretty old..DOA2 beats it..

Yeah, DOA2 does indeed rawk, but I think I still like Soul Calibur better. I think the only reason for that though is that I've practised soul cal for ages and had it for about a year and a half and I'm still relatively new to DOA 2 :)

If I can lay my hands on a ps2 multi-tap and two more controllers we can do some 4 player tekken tag and doa2 on the PS2.

The only thing I dont like about DOA2 tag is that the person who is tagged out can force a tag and make themselves come in, thats really gay when they do that and you're in the middle of setting up an uber combo or something.

That would be cool khel

About the combo, try and pick a partner that wouldnt do that too ya :)

but in DOA2, if u are doing a massive combo and your team mate tags u out..he can then continue the combo..Ive seen the comps pull off 20hit combos from doing that, looks fully sick.

Yeah, I've seen that too, looks pretty awesome :) Some of the double team moves are pretty awesome too.

Hrm I think it'd suck having someone else on your team for Soul Calibure or the likes... MY methods usually are 4-5 moves in advance and if a team mate jumps in.....

Well generally in DOA2, team-mates aren't meant to jump in, you tag out to them. Its just the stupid ones who tag themselves in (usually by accident, because if you mash the buttons in doa2 its pretty easy to accidentally tag).

It adds a whole new level of strategy to the game though when you have a parnter, like Morphyne was saying, it lets you pull off some truly awesome juggle combos :) Plus theres built in double team moves, that are a bit hard to time, but when you get them, do significant damage. In DOA2 each character has a preferred partner also, and if you're paired up with your preferred partner your double team moves are even more impressive and powerful.

I used to play 4 player DOA2 tag on the Dreamcast and it was pretty awesome :) Haven't tried it on the PS2 yet though.

Why? I actually prefer the ps2 version, the control method feels tigher and the action is faster. Plus it seems a little more forgiving as far as counters are concerned.

ps2 version feels really slow and unresponsive

I thought the PS2 version of DOA2 looked a little stiff and was a little unresponzive.

DOA2 tag would be a pleasure though, those double team tag moves rock when pulled off...look really sick.

What about Powerstone 2 Khel? :)
That game is awesome 2on2's, little bit of powerstone 2 never goes astray.

A few people have asked for KOF along the line, its something I could prolly get my hands on so I wont rule it out :)

Personally I've never played it though so I dont really know much about it. Can it be played tag or is it just one on one? Its more a streetfighter style game isn't it?

ok it works like this
you choose 3 characters each, and you shoose the order they fight in...vs the other players 3.
it son neo geo.... and not many people have that console these days, but its perfectly emulated with nerage, so if you have to control pads the same and a decent pc you ca play it
as for big screen... well if the computer has tv out (im guessing allbig screen things use a vid cable like rca or svideo casue i never seen oen that you can plug into the monitor port) then you cna ptu it on big screen.

DOA2 man, thats the way to go, oh and of course Virtua Tennis :)

I thought the PSX2 wasnt that impresive atm, proberly in the long run it will be great but atm..I didnt like it that much.

Whens Virtua Tennis 2 coming out? That will be a pleaser for sure...women tennis players :)

Yeah, the current crop of PS2 games really let it down at the moment. The stuff thats coming out here soon though, thats a different story :)

Still no set date for Virtua Tennis 2, I'm guessing probably for christmas, maybe a bit sooner, but I'm not sure.
