ozquake is almost set to put on round two of an Australia wide Q3 FFA Tourney with prizes from AMD.

Final approval is expected in the coming week, then we will be off to find the best Q3'er in the country.

Last time we had almsot $3,000 in prizes and 8 players waled away with stuff including a Nomad Jukebox worth about a grand.

If you haven't registered to compete.. do so, it will be the biggest and richest online comp in the country.

that's all well and good, but are you doing anything to even the playing field in respect to pingtimes?

I saw the score list of the last event's final and the pings were ridiculous for some of the better players.

How can you begin to refer to the winner as

the best Q3'er in the country

with these kind of variables?

yeah put a ping time cap of 100 on all players: this eliminates the 56k v broadband skill advantages.

If you guys can fill me in on how to make it more equal and fair I would be most grateful..

It's never going to be completely even, think about people at a LAN with machines varying from P2-266 to 1.2 GIG monsters with GeforceII cards and a s*** load of RAM.. but it's a valid point, we can try to make it as even as possible.. at this point all we can do it hold the games on the best servers and hope for the best.. last comp we had some issues with the venue, but we were grateful that Wireplay came on board and gave us exactly what we needed in a short timeframe when O@H didn't even bother responding to my emails.
