Any ideas,
Was working normally, but now the led is constintly on.
Will sometimes turn off, but :|

Computer is not lagging, Cpu usage is low 3% and memory usage is low as well.
Thanks.

maybe a virus? I know the indexing service in win2k/xp can do this. Have you got a creative infra CD drive? when I installed the software for mine it made the lights on the SCSI bus AND the IDE bus blink constantly....f***s me why it touched the scsi bus, the drive is no where near it.

I should point out that on some motherboards/IO controller cards, the "HDD LED" is more correctly a "bus activity LED" and as such will blink/flicker if _any_ device performs a bus access.

Actually, I can remember having a similar thing happen, and it was just the IDE cable wasn't firmly plugged into the back of the HDD.

Yes that would cause the LED to stay on. It can also happen if you plug the cable in upside down or put the devices in the wrong order.
