pfft onkyo. sif shrap, harman/kardon all the way hehe :)
umm Ad, sorry to say, but for 1k, you arent going to get a very good "home cinema", you could probably get a half-decent amp + dvd player for that but not speakers as well. i'd start having a look around kmart/big W and see what you can get there. also, clicky here |

You can always buy one of those entry level DVD + 5.1 kits that you might be able to squeeze out for around a grand or so.
It'll be enough to get your family going at least. I just had a look at Dick Smith, this is what they have: Panasonic $997 http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/3d1943c601caaca22741c0a87f9c071d/Product/View/A2822 Another Panasonic $897 http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/3d1943c601caaca22741c0a87f9c071d/Product/View/A0529 Yet another Pana-f***ing-sonic $1376 http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/3d1943c601caaca22741c0a87f9c071d/Product/View/A2823 Teac $796 http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/3d1943c601caaca22741c0a87f9c071d/Product/View/A2819 Sony $997 http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/3d1943c601caaca22741c0a87f9c071d/Product/View/A0734 None of them will exactly have a sound that fills the Sydney Opera House, but for a starter kit it's pretty good value. Try and make sure if you get one they dont have some customised interconnect bulls***, that'll stop you from turfing some bits and keeping others as you upgrade. |
