anyone ever had their search stop working? like the default windows search app thats inbuilt in explorer... it just doesnt work at all
you open it, type in a string to search for, and it doesnt do anything
this ever happened to anyone else here?
or, if i cant fix it, are there any other win32 searching programs i could use instead?

You're using winXP I assume?

shut down the search program, restart it and make sure the internet is on when you start it.

I don't know wtf it needs to use the internet for, but it just does.

It would be a good utility if it searched within ALL files, not just txt and doc or whatever.

I posted an article earlier this year (or was it late last year?) about the search feature in WinXP and apparently it sends data to Microsoft, namely the search string.
