There's no way any software would be able to read a really scratched CD, you'll only end up doing more harm than good.
Best way is to use a repair kit like Kun suggested. |

People have told me to put scratched CD's in the freezer...... give it a wipe over with a damp cloth then put it in the freezer for a few hours.
When you get it out it should work OK for a little while, until it "thaws". It should give you enough time to copy it. As I said I have never tried it but I have heard this works from several sources...... at least it's worth a try. |

I heard the best thing to do to fix your CD is to put it in the microwave.

yeah what you said about put it in the freezer is true you can do that with screwed up hard drives as well.
you need to put it in a air tight bag so no water can get in. |

I have heard toothpaste works too... Just rub toothpaste all over the CD and buff it off gently and the paste fills the scratches or some s***, meh.

We have a CD repair machine at work. Works like a charm too. Basically the CD just gets buffed back a bit to remove all the scratches. It's amazing how many morons don't know how to handle a CD or even worse, give it to their kids to play with.

Not sure about that but I guess we'll find out one day. The amount of plastic that gets buffed back is very, very small so I'd assume you'd be able to do a few times before it stops reading. Plus I reckon proper CD's would last longer than burnt ones when fixing them.

I'm at the Greenslopes one. Coorparoo can also do it as well. We own both stores. And another place that I know also is Civic Video at Wishart. They're along Newnham Road where Pet City is.
But anyway, bring it in if you want. Doesn't matter if it's a burnt cd or legit. 8-) |
