anyone know where i can get a patch for the new 16x pioneer DVD players for computers?

getting one tommorow and i was told it can be patched but ill be f***ed if i know where to get one from

I am gonna get a Pioneer DVD drive soon. Got a question tho. Are they region locked? If so, is it locked by software or hardware?

well, i work for a computer company and the supplier said on the side that it is possible to unlock them with a firmware patch (software) but i dont know where to get them from

thats what im trying to find out and the suplier wouldnt say anymore than that

Seems to be down at the moment, but keep trying.

All DVD drives released after 2000 are RPC-2 (region locked). Now they have patches/firmware which convert the drive to RPC-1 (region free) But you still need a region selector, like DVDGenie, which only works with RPC-1 drives.

I was under the impression that the drives were well and truly hard-wired to be locked.

Oh well, guess it means i can upgrade my region free 8x DVD when it needs it =)

Sif it will though, all you need is a 2x to be safe and a decent processor/mpeg decoder
