Your network settings are wrong. Mess wit em a lot. ALSO RTFM even though it is gay it may help you. You could always try calling telstra :P

If I'm not wrong SMC barricades dont work with Bigpond cos it does not allow you to login. I think some other people I know had the same problem with BPA (cable ) and the SMC barricade as well.

let me go dig around something for you...

whoops. i was wrong. look here. reason why i said initally that i wont work was cos someone i knew had the 7004BR ( not the ABR)

good that you got it working anyway

http://www.ozcableguy.com/hardware.html#routers

My model came pre-installed with firmware revision 1.40.008
This firmware has a new option under "Setup" called "DHCP (BP)" alongside the normal "DHCP" option. The "DHCP (BP)" allows you to set Username, Password and Login Server IP. Initially the firmware sets the Login Server IP to "61.9.128.13" - (incorrect for everyone outside Victoria) but is changeable. Under "Setup" then "LAN" the unit is preset to IP 192.168.2.1 and it hands out IPs in the 192.168.2.2 to 192.168.2.40 by default.
I left "Domain Name" blank.
DNS settings need to be keyed - I used 61.9.208.14/15 (Queensland only).
Other than setting your timezone there are no other settings that need to be changed.
Under "Tools" the "Reset Barricade" seems to be required to get all the changes happening. Also it may be required to hit "Renew" under the "Status" menu after logging back in following a reset.
Under "Status" the "Security log" is useful to look through, as it will tell you if you haved logged into the authentication server and give reasons why it fails etc.

Note from OzCableguy: For proper sending and receiving email and access to account management on Telstra.com, you will need to specify appropriate DNS suffixes on the PCs, as per the client setup sections in any of the guides.
The 5758 part # will NOT work using 1.40.008 firmware. Only part No the 5432 will work with this version.
Version 1.40.0018 has been released (21/2/02) to cover this problem.
