FFS..Newstead would have to either be one of the greatest bassist in the would, plus he backing vocals rocked. He would have been planning this for a couple of years now, he and the rest of the band know that they have had there time, so in respect jason is departing, and it will be a f***in great loss, there isnt anyone else out there who could replace him, and they also know that they havent got the popularity has they had about 5-6 years and even more ago.

It's cuz of all this f***in gheyass teenie bopper, rap crap, hip-hop f***, that is all ghey, they have f***in taken over the music industry, and it f***en sux, I f***IN HATE ALL THAT GAY ASS s***.

im still glad i saw them twice..would have been 3 times if i had the cash to go to sydney in 1988 to see them.

it doesnt matter if he (Jason) was or wasnt the best bass player in the world... he was an integral part of the band and contributed a lot. when you look at videos like cliff 'em all you'd realise that it was no easy task filling in shoes as large as cliff burton's..but jason fought through all the s*** and in the end was undeniably a damn good bass player.
have any of you that say he's a s*** bass player bothered listening to him in his days of Flotsem and Jetsem? i didnt think so.

its a bit hard to define "best bassist" really cause there are so many different styles, even between individual bands.

The guy from RATM is gay SPlash - the others you said are pretty damn good though. John Myung from Dreamt Theatre f***ING owns all on bass though - unbelievable. Michael Anthony is pretty good too actually as a more mainstream guy. Cliff Burton raped ass - his death was a total loss to the music community and the world. Jason is a lot better than many of you would think, its just that he doesn't show huge amounts of his talent in t MetallicA songs cos they are not based on base, rather on guitar and Lars drumming.

They will be flat out finding someone tht will fit them as well as Jason did. I sure hope they find someone good.
