Well, as some of you may have read, some people in the Starcraft beta have been given a second invite to give out to a friend and I've got one sitting here burning a hole in my gmail inbox. Been sitting on it for a few days cos I didn't really know who to give it to, so I figured f*** it I'll throw it out there to the QGL community instead.

So I know theres some die-hard Starcraft fans out there, if you want this key, just convince me you're gonna put it to good use. I mean, I feel a bit ashamed that I've had the Starcraft beta for weeks now and hardly had the time to even play it, so I want to redeem myself by at least giving this key to someone who's really gonna get some use out of it. Someone who's a big Starcraft fan and will be able to (hopefully) provide some meaningful feedback to Blizzard and really put it through its paces. If theres other uses you can put it to, like if you're part of a big Starcraft news site or something and can use it give Starcraft info back to the community then sure, mention that too.

Also, I'm gonna favour long-term people of the QGL community. Sorry people who've signed up through Ausgamers that I don't know, or people who create accounts purely to come here begging for it. Please don't spam this thread with that sort of s***, cos you'll never get it.

So yeah, this isn't a competition or anything, just let me know if you want the key, and what you can do with it. I wanna give it to someone who's gonna appreciate it and make good use of it, not someone who's just gonna boot it up and go "Wow starcraft 2" and play for a few hours then be over it.

And no, don't PM me, its not for sale, I don't want anything for it, play by the rules.

I own http://www.starcraft2au.com and don't have a beta key! I've been working on the site a bit more of late, the changes aren't uploaded just yet.

As far as I know that and starcraft2.com.au are the only major fan sites in AU.

To further my case, if you give me the key I'll play low-ping games with you and use it to start the Replays section of my site. I believe at this point it would be a first for Aussie StarCraft 2 sites to have a replay section with a proper database.

Been playing sc1 regularly since 98, obviously been some down time for other games but eventually going back to it. Big rts fan, played lots of war3 on b.net back in the day.

Since beta started have been sharing accounts with various people to get my fix, probably clocked up about 200 games with the time ive been allowed to play. Would without a doubt play more with my own account, and also test out 2v2 and possibly 3v3 if/when blizzard release those brackets later on, seeing as I have a group of friends that are playing it very heavily.

edit: oh and the reason why i didnt get a friend invite from the group is coz theres about 5 other people waiting in line and i drew the short straw :(

I don't know if I'd own up to that ... you should really change the design IMO. It's really ugly. That 2nd site wasn't too bad looking, just copy that.

That site needs some pics in the background and its very skinny on a widescreen monitor and the writing is very small.

run everything on high @ 1920x1200. I could run it on ultra settings but frames drop in big fights. Frame rate doesnt drop so bad but it does make microing that much harder so High it is for me. If you run everything on Low even a dated machine would play it tbh.

Once everyone gets over the pretty lights, I think the more competitive people will play the game on lower settings just so they dont get distracted by all the lights, just like they did for war3.

The blue, orange and black theme. I think its just ugly. Very unfriendly on the eyes, kind of like a fat chick in a bikini. And that navigation stuff up the top left, I don't know what that's all about. I know its under construction, that's why its a good chance to change it, to look like the other one :) Just copy his.

Well all I can say is that this game is everything I was hoping it would be. I have a four year old machine which can run WC3 on the highest settings. I'm running SC2 on the lowest at 1024x768.

It still looks half decent and runs well. With a minor upgrade of video and RAM for about $200 I reckon I could get away with medium settings, which look great.

This game will be played by a LOT of people so I'm going to keep working away on my site for as long as I can. Right now I need to work on the backend and all sorts of PHP stuff before I look at a redesign (which I agree it needs in some places). Though I will be keeping the funky orange news section.

The starcraft.com.au site loooks WAYYY better.

At first I thought it was yours DIAS, and I thought. O win, that sight looks like it'll get used a lot and it has a great URL too.

Then I saw the other one...

That site does look good, but it was just slapped together using the fan site kit. I'm going for as much of an original creation as possible.

At least I have a decent logo. I just changed the news font colour too. Still plenty of orange!

Okay, so you want a distinct feel, that's cool. I find your site to be a little bit confusing there is something about it that really grates, not sure what it is.
I think your navigation thingy needs some attention, it seems clunky.

The colours could work, it just needs a little something else. Something to break up the orange little.

Dias, SC2LiVE will be a Starcraft 2 website based around replays, tournaments and generally the hard core playing community. Back in the days of warcraft 3 we had war3live for about 5-6 years which was pretty much home to the best players in Australia. I'm currently in the process constructing most of the sites features, and will be launching it in the near future.

Hilarious that people can get away with that, that is price a game when the publisher hasnt even priced it yet. I guess if certain people are dumb enough to fork over 80-100 before the game even has a release date (aiming for mid year is not a release date) they deserve to lose their money.

Can we get some 2v2 and 3v3 and bigger games going please? Starcraft played by the normal joe-blo isn't usually 1v1. It's more like 3v3.
