tldr: scroll down for digital jukebox

Homenetwork for gaming and streaming

just moved house recently into an old place thats had the complete underneath renovated a self contained unit type set up. both being of the same mind the mrs and i have designated it the gaming/media/fun floor and I've been having a bit of fun the last couple of days f***ing around setting up a sweet little home network. I've set up a domain controller dhcp/dns/wins server on and old proliant ML310 and chucked it, a NAS, a gigabit switch and a surge protector on a neat little rack in the corner of a spare room. no keyboard mouse or monitor, do it all remotely.

i've patched it through to mine and the mrs rig out in our living room, everything all connected at 1.0 Gbps (wall patching is a c*** but totally worth it)

from the switch i've patched through to wireless router out in tv/media room connected at 100mbs. router has dhcp disabled but WPA enabled so everything is going through the domain:

WAN
- connected to bigpond cable 30000/1000 kbps
LAN
- Samsung series6 46" FHD LCD (streams divx/audio/pic/tv straight from my windows7 media library no third party software needed - also streams youtube HQ straight from the net)
- Xbox360 ( XboxLive, also streams media)
- Samsung HTBD1255W BlueRay receiver and surround sound (same funcs as tv)
WIRELESS
- PSP
- AP for swanky phones like ipod
- upstairs laptop
- AP for future streamers

Any suggestion? reason i've gone to so much trouble is because, it was fun to set up, everythings working perfectly, im having a lan next saturday for about 16 people so should be all on gigabit and work hassle free. No media PC so TV area look cable free uncluttered and awesome.

Digital Jukebox
I have a sweet stereo upstairs and out on the deck and i want a miniature pc i can connect to it simply to run windows media player and stream on demand mp3's from my media library dowstairs.

ideally it would be small and easy to hide and cheap because all it needs to do is run media player and stream wirelessly from a server.

my grand plan is to have it completely hiddeen and a small touchscreen mounted on the wall somewhere for selecting songs.

HALP!

What exactly is your question? You're after a little PC to run as a media streamer? EEEbox? I have one that's about the size of a dvd case but twice as thick, makes no noise & runs xp. Even has optical output for audio goodness.

the last time I saw something like this done with style it was a gutted laptop hidden in a cupboard hooked up to a touchscreen that was mounted to the cupboad door (like a picture).

the dude bought a nice photo frame for the touchscreen too. it looked pretty classy, and was done on the cheap with old ex-govt parts

I've always wanted a table top touch screen which can be turned off / on depantant on use, combined with atom ion based zotac board or ion solution of choice and your away. Or you could drop this in www.microsoft.com/surface/

I wouldn't mind a serial/usb controller (keyboard emulation) that can be stuck to glass think conductive type sticker (membrane keyboard). Put on the outside of my glass door, so changing songs is possible without opening the door and letting the heat out, and also does away with having an rf remote outside where its going to get wet. Mostly for the second audio zone off the amp

I did try a dolphin rf waterproof remote and program a couple of rc6 commands into it but the f***ing thing was arse, or I was too retarded with the programming or both.
