Pretty cool, not my kind of music though. Seems better than other DJ's as he's doing everything live.

I was disappointing when I discovered DJs tend to just rock up with prerecorded music. This is what I thought live electronic music would be.

I used to also think that DJ's had a bunch of samples and beatlines that they used to mix together to make a live show... Until oneday that dream was shattered as i realised that 99% of it is quite literally syncing the beats of two different songs and fadethrough :(

But this guy is pretty awesome, coming up with the samples, and making the song live, even if he's done it and practiced it to death its a tonne more skillful than the average.

Why would you think a DJ would make all their own electronic music on the spot? Did you notice the crate of records? There are DJs who mix records and CDs by blending tracks in numerous different ways and there are Electronic performers (for want of a better term) who create music live using synths and drum machines and so on. Sometimes they do both. But generally speaking they are two different musical acts.

Not sure why you'd be "shattered"...DJing in it's pure form is a definitely the realm of the musician, it's just that most people wouldn't know what the hell a DJ is doing and so assume "oh they are just playing someone else's music. But that's ok. They can stick to their Best of John Fogerty CDs and we will keep what we have.

PS The OP was average I thought, seen it done a lot better, but good on him I spose.

Dude i'm talking about when i was 12, and i'm comparing the average club DJ who does a winamp bangup job of moving from one record to the next via a cross fader.

geez chill, I'm taking from your user pic you are a DJ? Don't hold yourself so highly, I had more musical talent when i was 12 and knew 4 instruments (Trumpet, euphonium, french horn and tuba) not to mention was compsing simple music to play with 4-5 different brass instruments.

I was considering at the time a DJ would easily be more skilled as the ones who sat there seemed to be "composing" awesome electronica music.

The shatter came because my misconception was suddenly gone, and i was left to face the reality that they mostly have s*** all skill.

I'm not saying there aren't fantastic DJ's, but they aren't the avergage club jockey, and even if they are good, they wouldn't be able to show it in the club.

^ just blending tracks still requires an amount of skill/taste to do it properly.
and e.q in itself is an intrument in my opinion, which is what a lot of dj'ing is about.
im not the biggest fan of techno, but because i love all music (even the stuff i hate. because it created an emotion in me), i still see its merits.

i think an electronic musician is just called a producer at the end of the day.
which is why the good ones end up producing other 'real instrument' playing artists albums.
