doesn't it seem odd to anybody else that the fundamental purpose of holding a concert, to perform for a bunch of people, is totally circumvented when everyone in the crowd is a performer rather than a member of the general public?

Yeah maybe, depends how they got the crowd though, surely they didnt pay everyone in the crowd? Maybe they invited Black eyed peas fan to a free concert but they have to come and learn the moved beforehand or something.

Yeah it doesn't count as a flash mob when it's so commercial. When they shoot a big beer ad, qantas ad, or music video it's not called a flash mob, because there is no real life audience there. Everyone there was in on it, and it was an ad for T Mobile. It wasn't a random assault on the public - it was part of a planned event for the cameras.

Yeah not a flash mob, it looked like it might have been at the start, with everyone just standing there, if they somehow managed to organise all those people without anyone from the show knowing and then just stood there for the whole performance, that would have been a flashmod, and would have been pretty funny.

The first time I watched it it was pretty cool, but then u see all the beforehand stuff with them practising, makes it seem a lot less cool.
