Topic: Something different - BMX club meet photos

Thought I might mix it up here and provide some photos for entertainment - For something a bit different I decided to head down for some racing on wheels of sizes barely legal for the normal type of racing I'd do - this time the small club race under lights at the Knox track.

Lighting was an absolute pain, with a 24-70 f/2.8L that kept hunting (and being really slow to focus - seriously Canon, give us a USM version), whereas the 70-200 proved too close a lot of the time.

A few quickly cropped/post-processed picks from the collection can be found at http://www.getdropbox.com/gallery/97682/1/knoxbmx-090918?h=fcbb87
Of course the entire collection is available as per normal - http://www.mtb-images.com.au/20090918/index.html

Anyhow, enjoy.

I used to love my BMX at Beeleigh skate park during junior high, but I kept growing... :(

Nope, just spectated and took photos. I've been toying with the idea of getting a BMX and doing some clubbies for sprint training, but sssssh, don't tell my XC riding buddies.

24-70 is pretty s*** in low light any chance you could get access to a fast prime - excluding the nifty bceause the focus hunt in LL is worse again

you old men, preferring to talk about photography instead of BMX
so in that pick, is that cruiser class (24")?
Also
notice the large front spockets they're still riding with? I've moved from dirtjumping to street & parks and i now run a 25 toother, and that's considered large for park but still a lot smaller than the old 38 toothers these guys are riding with

The seats are so low! That doesn't look comfortable :(

Probably less comfortable if you land and your nuts hit the seat if the seat is higher.

Pretty much what shad said, we ride with the seats slammed like that because they just get in the way when you're in the air. Also, thats the reason for the move to smaller sprockets, its not nice getting it caught on coping etc

Seat is handy for anything over one Barpsin and for truck drivers though.

s***, they look pretty high for BMX bikes, the landing must be crunching.

Shoot static on a tripod with a remote trigger, set focus to manaul - set exposure and shutter speed as required. Dump the images into photoshop use layar mask and then flaten thats pretty much it. The 10d I shoot with isn't great for shooting sport but does the job.

Hopefully the wife gives me approval for a decent jump bike for this summer, but I am not having much luck with a supersized frame to suit my height and weight. I was riding a mosh dj1 but sadly they don't make em anymore.
