So ive got some holidays comming up soon and i was going to spend the 1st week at home just chillin. I saw ARMA2 on special at JB hifi and wondered if it is worth it? Who here plays it? Thoughts? hates? I had access to VBS1 and enjoyed it.

It's cool, if you have a powerful machine, and seeing as you enjoyed VBS1 you will enjoy this. If it turns out anything like ARMA1 by patch 8 or 9 performance will dramatically increase if you are willing to wait :P. |

Can you still fly the Apache like in OFP? Does it still have a level editor?

the game is great, it's only people with the call of duty or battlefield attitude that don't get into it as they have yet to develop patience and tactics with a sleigh of maturity |

+1 from me. I love it. Delta51's comment is spot-on though - if you just want a frag fest ARMA is not for you. |

Imo Arma 2 isnt worth a cent yet. Plenty of bugs and such things -.- I think it would be really cool if it was completed, but they only tried to release before Operation Flashpoint 2 and so they f***ed it up, i recommend not to buy it before 2010 |

lots of bugs, server crashes, CTD's...which will hopefully be fixed eventually.
but otherwise still a good game. If you liked OFP then you'll dig ARMA2. |

I am definitely keen to try it but like with most FPS games like this it seems better to wait a couple months until the polish has been added |

Right! Playing yet is just running around and hoping not to be the victim of a bug, it would be a really nice game if they would get to solve all these things. |

Arma is awesome if you have a shred of patience and as Trog said it will get better over time, both in terms of content/mods and bug fixes (a game as big as Arma2 will always have bugs). Can you still fly the Apache like in OFP? Does it still have a level editor? You can fly heaps of stuff, and modders will add lots more (and convert Arma1 mods) and yes the editor is there and can now be used in 3D, but the 3D editor is still a work in progress and not accessible through standard means (you gotta hit a key combo, you tube it). |

Arma is awesome if you have a shred of patience and as Trog said it will get better over time So buggy. And, I am sorry it's a game it should need me to have a spiritual experience to enjoy. I was going to get it (cos it was on sale) until I read this thread. |

my buddie Maverick and I are working through the missions Coop. I'm enjoying the complex / more realistic gameplay.
As for the graphics, f*** I wish they had done this game with the Crysis engine cause is looks more like the old Black hawk down style of graphics as it is. That aside, I'm enjoying the gameplay, so not that worried about the grpahics. |

I tried the demo a few weeks ago and just couldn't get in to it. It also ran like s*** on my PC with a 3ghz cpu, 4 gig of ram and a GTX 285 video card, it might be because I had stuff going on in the background but cod4 still runs fine doing the same background tasks and I had the graphics all the way down to low. Going through that stupid training run at the start you go to strafe and turn at the same time and it feels really unresponsive. I don't know how the ladies in the military do it but if it's anything like in the game they should take some training tips on how to avoid s*** from rugby players because they can side step pretty well.
ARMA2 =/= a game! It's a simulator! See my point above as to why it's a s*** simulator if that's what it's meant to be. I don't know about you other retards but I'm pretty adept at running in a straight line then all of a sudden stepping to one side while turning to run in another direction. Also I don't know if there's shortucts to get to it but what's with the middle mouse button being EVERYTHING? It seems like if you want to reload your gun you click the middle button & scroll through a list of s***, same with getting out of a car. What the f***? Then you've got your stupid click & scroll to lift, drag or kiss your wounded soldier buddy at the start, I don't know how anyone would survive for more than 5 minutes in that game without a sniper just sitting back & picking people off as they're trying to find the action they want to do. In short: f*** ARMA 2 |
