So we've been putting up a metric f***-ton of awesome stuff lately, mostly the stuff that Dan and Steve got to check out at E3.

We've been trying to get the most mileage out of it all by pimping it on various social networks, etc. If you're a fan of AusGamers on Facebook you woulda seen a bunch of stuff slide up on your home page (presumably in between status updates of people you don't really give a s*** about, but they sure like you to know what they're doing).

We've also been throwing some stuff into digg. We've actually been doing this for a while. I haven't bothered drawing a lot of attention to it because a) I don't really like digg (I've said it before and I'll say it again - democracy just doesn't work) and b) I don't like shamelessly trying to get people to linkwhore our s***.

But, it's a new age! If you're not competing in the social networking space, you miss out on a lot of traffic.

ANWAY, digg have recently integrated Facebook Connect - which means that you can now log in to digg with your Facebook account without having to do anything really complicated (other than pick a digg username and uncheck a couple of stupid boxes).

So, if you have a few spare seconds and would like to do us a solid, here's how you can contribute:

1) Go to http://www.ausgamers.com and look for the little 'digg' icon in some of our key news posts and click on it - here's one I prepared earlier: http://digg.com/gaming_news/Assassin_s_Creed_2_Video_Interview

2) Click the little thumbs up 'digg' icon beneath the number in the yellow box on the left hand side. You'll get a box that looks like this:

http://trog.qgl.org/up/fb-digg1.jpg

3) Click the 'Facebook' option in the top, the click the 'Facebook Connect' button that comes up

4) If you're not logged into Facebook already, you'll get something that looks like this

http://trog.qgl.org/up/fb-digg2.jpg

... which you can then just log into your FB account with.

If you are logged in, you'll just get some other thing asking for your permission, which you can just click on.

5) You'll then get a login dialog asking you to pick a digg username (this basically just links your Facebook profile with an account on the digg backend). There's a few other options - they're safe to uncheck, or check them, or whatever rocks your boat.

6) After that you should be logged in and the story you clicked 'digg' on should increase by one!

7) (BONUS STEP) If you have a few more seconds, go to http://www.ausgamers.com and digg any of the other stories that interest you.

8) Earn our eternal gratitude for doing us a solid. Eternal gratitude is not redeemable for anything useful, but it will make you feel good.

this looks very complicated like some sort of RPG quest.

yuo're probably better of just getting a Digg username and logging in. it's very easy... really.

really ausgamers, twitter is far more useful these days for pimping your produce.

that is a very bad idea for facebook, and the whole angle to their marketing over myspace and twitter is the very private nature of their networks.

they just f***ed themselves inadvertently by trying to beat twitter. twitter is completely different to facebook.

its a good idea, actually. you can still have a completely private profile, the new 'everyone' button is an opt-in per-post kind of setting.

Not unless Facebook introduce streams to just take status information, and support the myriad of twitter clients out in the wild.

Twitter has a lot more directed control than what Facebook provides users.

I honestly don't approve of the attempt by Facebook to try and corner the authentication market. I still prefer OpenID and I wish Digg would have friggin implemented that instead. *sigh*

If you're pro-FB Connect, implement it here, trog.

I personally haven't joined AusGamers FB group because for me that spans the gap between relative anonymity and not. I know a lot of you blokes know each other but I like coming on here without peeps knowing my name, more or less.

I'm not pro any of that s***. I was vaguely interested in OpenID but noone is taking it seriously enough for me to really care about it.

OpenID is a great idea but it's missing (what I feel is) an obvious core element

In all seriousness, it would be super awesome if you took the time to do it. Especially on this one!
