My ASD keys are really worn, you can't see the letter on them anymore. However the W is still fine - does that mean I don't move forward a lot?? :/

What are yours like?

Its probably got more to do with the fact that you generally hold down forwards but tap left/right in higher frequency depending on the game.

Only nubs play WASD.

YGHJ 4 life! The s*** is right in the center of the keys!

Who decided WASD was the standard anyway? Back when I used to play Quake every player had a different system.

It may be how your finger lands on the W key. Your other fingers may rub on the actual letter of the key and wear it off, whilst pushing W you may actually press just below the letter.

because it's easier to get a newb to press 1 to switch to melee weapon than 5. You might get more keys from yghj but wasd has tab caps s*** crt which are all large easily pressed keys.

Exactly. I just tried out how i use WASD and it's just like that.

Yup I think you're right Tollaz0r, the bottom of the W is a little rubbed, and now looking at how I place my fingers, my W finger doesn't cover the W letter.

But yeah a lot of tf2 characters don't move forward a lot, except when respawing, in which case I often run by twirling around a lot to avoid spies.

Who walks forward? Should be strafing everywhere, especially strafe jumping.

Arrow keys FTW!

When you play an arcade cabinate the joystick is left and the buttons right. So people who play with the mouse right-handed are wrong.

I have a razer Arctosa, black lettering on black keys.

It's funny watching other people try to use it :P

So how you reach Shift, Ctrl, Alt? or do you have your own retarded setup for that?

C for crouch, K reload, M use/activate, F for flashlight, U/I for whatever is needed (drop weapon in certain games, last disguise for TF2 etc.).

Right mouse-button forward = win.
Ewwww.

I used to have jump bound to mouse2 for TFC bunnyhopping.

I miss being able to exploit to the point where you could bunnyhop into base past multiple SG's, an entire team, capture the flag and get out in under 3 seconds.

Because they're bigger than your average key, making it easier to press and harder to miss.

Dunno, that's just me.

Heh, so are mine! Funny thing is I don't play a lot of games on this keyboard, and I don't use WASD anyway. My O key is a bit chipped and my L key is almost gone. Interesting.

yghj is the normal alternative to wasd.

Technically yghj gives you a larger number of quickly available keys.

Keys are fine, although the wrist rest at the bottom of the G15 has worn away quite a bit.

I use default, so I don't have to f*** around with controls when I play a game on another computer. I don't know how many keys you people need to play, but I don't get into a cold sweat when I'm faced with WASD.

Yeah I learned to play with defaults because I used to play in lan cafes.

The only thing I change now is I swap jump with alternate fire (space + mouse2). Because I don't use alternate fire enough.

Haha, made me lol. Currently I'm with you Midda, I use default. Only key I can remember changing recently was the VOIP key in TF2 to make it like L4D default ('C') because it kept confusing me.

i remember when i went to the very first quake lans at term's timbermart lans & the majority of players used the numeric keypad & were used to taking up 2 people widths with thier keyboard to the left of thier monitor & thier mouse to the right. pretty soon with limited seating & lotsa players everyone was forced to use less space with thier keyboards & started using the wasd combo. i continued to use the numeric keypad & changed hands for the mouse & keyboard :P~ the advantage of ambidexterity :D (even though i was still pretty crap at quake).

It's easier to conform that go about reinventing the wheel. Thank f*** the main keys for DOW2 are the same as COH.

my first keyboard went one better, not only were the buttons worn off, but I'd actually worn the plastic down on the left side where my fingers moved across to tab/shift/cntrl. The keys were originally concave but ended up almost flat. (only wasd)

Cheers mate. I already knew, but it's nice to hear it every now and then.

Though I haven't been entirely honest with you all. I do change the voice button to one of my side mouse buttons.

Maybe guys with frail little girl bodies can cope with the closeness of YGHJ to the mouse. I, with my man shoulders, need the wide spread of WASD + mouse.

TFGH here.

then my mouse broke, so i had to go mouse3 +moveup and right alt for fire. ( for quake live, tf2 mouse3 is fire and space is jump)

ps. why the f*** are G5s still so expensive.
