Seems another avenue for legitimate online TV viewing for Aussies as been shut. I'm now getting the "Sorry. Full episodes of the Daily Show are not available in your area" message at Daily Show and
Colbert Report. Im in f*cking mexico city, i have to be in my f*ucking house all the time because of the f*cking flu, there was an earthquake yesterday i`m probably going to die because of the flu and all i f*cking wanted was to see the f*cking daily show to forget about this nightmare and you come up with this s*it. F*CK YOU VIACOM lol from the comments from the latest ep. |

holy f*** that's gay! it was working fine yesterday. I was just thinking the other day how awesome they were to let us watch it from Australia. Lot's of rage, maybe they'll change their mind. So annoying though. |

Thanks, hotspotshield!I looked at that, but there's nowhere near enough info on the official site for me to feel comfortable installing it. It can't proxy all traffic, that'd be ludicrous, surely?! |

I could watch the SNL episode with Zach Effron over and over again. He's so dreamy.

Looks like TV companies are just trying to further encourage torrent downloads. |

f***tards ruined my lunch break.
I look forward to relaxing with my lunch and some Daily show and Colbert. Had to watch the non-full-eps version on front page. Which is 95% of it anyways, but it's not as cool as full-eps viewing. Tried using FoxyProxy but their site ran as slow as s*** under the US proxies i tried so i gave up. They have done this before and then removed it a few days later. I guess they realised it has been a while since they last tried to piss everyone off. |

Ive been pretty surprised lately to find that a bunch of australian tv is streamable now.
ABC have a really great service which is actually unmetered for a bunch of ISPs and has the last couple episodes of all/most of their shows on demand - http://www.abc.net.au/tv/iview You can also watch most or all episodes of good news week on 10 but the quality is a bit dodgey. iinet also have some limited stuff for free now including full super 14 games and although it makes me sick, EPL. http://www.iinet.net.au/freezone Hadn't looked at the unmetered stuff on iinet for ages so I was pretty shocked to see how much they have now, even xbox live unmetered. |

Geo-locking goes against the intended purpose of the internet.

So, they want the rest of the world to pirate their tv shows? No, they want the rest of the world's TV stations to buy their shows. As much as this sort of regionalisation is incredibly frustrating, as it is now it makes complete business sense for them. |

So, they want the rest of the world to pirate their tv shows?I have two theories for this: 1) They reckon (or know) there's no revenue (or it's insignificant) by offering them on the site for non-US people. It costs them bandwidth, etc, and gets them nothing in return. 2) They genuinely think by doing this it will stop people watching their show and force them to subscribe to cable TV services (or pay for them on iTunes, although last time I checked they were still not available for AU people to buy on iTunes). Let's face it, anyone connected to the Internet watching the Daily Show probably doesn't have cable and isn't going to get it for one show. I'm not, and I reckon the Daily Show/Colbert Report are probably the two things I enjoy watching the MOST out of anything on TV at the moment. This is directly just going to drive people to download them illegally. I found it a bit ironic that the comedycentral show actually has ads targeted towards Australians (I saw an ad for "Thank God You're Here" on there), so they clearly know I'm Australian when I visit the site and they clearly already have ad targeting for geographic reasons. Why not just sell the space, throw some ads in the regular feed for Aussies, and make money out of it? |

Not sure on the legalities of this but you can get an add-on for firefox called X-Forwarder-For Spoofer which allows you to set what IP address you want firefox to tell websites you are posting from (as I understand it).
Anyway, it works for this and might have some other handy uses as well. |

It's clearly not that unbeatable, though - I had no joy with BigPondTV, BBC, or ABC TV's iView. :(

Can still seem to watch it segment by segment on the main page though. Hope it's not just a matter of time till they get around to blocking that too.

If you are in the US just ping an Aust. ISP web page and use the IP from that. That's what I did, and iView gives me a fullscreen playback window saying it's connecting to a video, yet nothing happens. |
