Topic: LAN party breaks Guiness World Record

The world record has been set for the longest lan party ever by Cyberjaya at CyberFusion 2009 in Malaysia. The event lasted 40 hours.

It took more than 1,500 cans of energy drink but Malaysia is now in the Guinness Book of World Records. This is thanks to 274 people who played video games for 40 hours non-stop at Cyberfusion 2009 yesterday. Organizers Cyberview and Advanced Micro Devices added two more hours to the original 38, and the players agreed to it, despite feeling sleepy. So it was that the previous record of 36 hours by 203 gamers, set in California last year, was broken.

So this is how they legitimise their Gold Farming organisations...
God what I'd give to pull the plug on a massive LAN full of WoW players and just sit back and enjoy the pitiful sounds moaning and wrists slitting :)

Anecdotally, you guys who have played for days on end, does your gaming become impaired after the first day? Do you have trouble making decisions and are you slower to react to things??? Or did you feel fine the whole time?

I came in expecting it to be about the biggest attendance number for a LAN which might have been impressive. But time? and 40 hours? that s*** is just weak and anyone that played that long non-stop is just retarded.

40 hours? I reckon when I first got Oblivion I sat and played for longer than that.

I'd be willing to go to a 4 day lan party. Bring a slab of beer and a sleeping bag, rock on! No more than that though, I'd get sick of everyone.

Just for those that dont know some of the rules.

Its 40hrs straight, no sleeping at the computer, non-stop playing games that were approved, no Solitaire or Mindsweeper, you accumulated 5min breaks every hour and could use as one block - but your toilet & meal breaks use that time too...

Previous record was set last year - 203ppl 36hrs. This was 257ppl 40hrs.
